Boyz II Men has signed to a different recording label at that time, and released their album which they have more creative control with "Nathan Michael Shawn Wanya", which was obviously named after the first names of the members of the group. Their previous album "Evolution" may have sold quite good but lower than their previous albums.

"Nathan Michael Shawn Wanya" has released "Pass You By" as the lead single, and there are expectations regarding its chart placement. The single failed to chart in Billboard Hot 100, entering number 4 at US Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles, which is equivalent to number 104, while charting at number 39 in US Mainstream chart. It also managed to chart in few countries.

"Thank You in Advance" was the second single, as well as the final one probably due to lukewarm reception on their record at that time. It only charted in Billboard Hot 100 at number 80.

"Nathan Michael Shawn Wanya" may have been noticed as the decline of the band but it still managed to chart at number 4 in United States, and certified Gold Record. It only charted at number 54 in United Kingdom. It was a good seller in Japan with over 200k sales.
