Back in 1997 when I first heard the song "I Want You", and too be honest, I can't understand the words because it was fast paced and almost rapping in the stanzas. That song became their first hit in United States, which was attributed to Rosie O'Donnell playing it on her show. It reached number 4 in Billboard Hot 100 while going to the top spot in Mainstream chart. The song helped a good charting of the duo's self-titled debut album.

"To the Moon and Back" was released as the second single which peaked at numbers 24 and 17 in Billboard Hot 100 and Mainstream chart respectively. It was a bigger hit in UK Singles Chart compared to its predecessor reaching number 3.

Savage Garden achieved bigger success though their hit "Truly Madly Deeply". The song reached number 1 in several countries including the US, while it reached number 4 in the UK. Their album eventually became one of the biggest sellers of 1998, with estimated total sales of 12 million or even more.

The duo had released singles afterwards, which was limited in certain countries. They were also featured on the soundtrack of the movie "The Other Sister" with the top 20 hit "The Animal Song" in 1999. The same year, their single "I Knew I Loved You" was released, which became their second number 1 hit on Billboard Hot 100.

The single led their second album "Affirmation", which also featured the top 40 hit "Crash and Burn". The album has sold millions worldwide, and with only two successful LPs, they became one of the most successful duo in music.
