Not sure if it was a general thing or a niche thing, but this movie had a lot of hype around here when it first came out. My exams were approaching so I couldn't watch it then, but then I put it on the top of my evergrowing watchlist and made sure it'd be the first thing I'll watch after the exam. After the exam I stalled a little and completed another series first, but then I finally got around to watching it and I'll be giving you my honest opinion.

We start off with Mr Clay who seems to be a regular beekeper and is a tenant to an Elderly Mrs Parker who lives alone. She invites him to come join her for dinner that night, and after some persuasion he agrees. Before the Dinner Mrs Clay is working on her computer when she receives a weird message on her computer screen in a bid to fix it she ends up falling for a scam and losing a large sum of money that doesn't even belong to her. That night the beekeeper comes for dinner and Mrs Parker is dead. After some investigation it is discovered that it was a suicide. Then the reason for the suicide is also uncovered. The beekeper finds out and he goes on a one man mission guns blazing in an attempt to bring down the entire organization responsible for the scam. He also finds out that the scam network is a lot wider than he thinks.

𝓜𝓨 𝓣𝓗𝓞𝓤𝓖𝓗𝓣𝓢

I am not sure maybe it's because I am going older or maybe it's something else but I used to be a fan of the whole one man versus the whole world action movie, but watching this one felt very weird. I could feel myself unconsciously pointing out all the flaws in the whole sequence and how unrealistic it was for someone to be so unstoppable, unshakeable and completely without fear. But that's usually the main thing with these type of movies they're to serve as an escape from reality and give us that sense and feeling like everything is possible. For this reason I can't really fault that aspect of the film, but left to me I just felt like It was too unreal in that aspect. I'm guessing I've just outgrown that whole trope. I like to see heroes who actually fear, feel and aren't 100% perfect.

Then there's Mrs Parker's daughter. I'm not sure why, but they kept on making hints about how she hadn't gotten over her mother's death and then never addressed the issue. Other than that the movie I'd say it was pretty good. Maybe not ass hyped as the people around me made it out to be but it wasn't a bore. I liked how they incorporated some modern things like how people in high places and scam can be connected and also made mention of crypto and Nft a couple times. I also liked the fact that the beekeeper was Jason Statham, that alone made the whole macho impenetrable man that doesn't fear anything a bit more bearable. He was definitely the best man for the job. The other actors were ok, but I can't really speak many praises about their acting. Cinematography is good, nice fight scenes, special effects, you can't really complain about anything here.

Final verdict

Overall I think it is a decent watch, not spectacular in any means, but not a boring watch. It's one of those where you just watch to pass the time and not have heightened expectations. Watch, enjoy, and forget in about a month or so. I will give it a 3.9/5
