Hello everyone! Today is the first day of Ramadan in the year 2023. Some people are fasting today. For him, this is not a tavern post.😂 Normally, yesterday, I was going to tell you about the tavern we went to on the farewell night with Mev. But something came up at the last moment. Good thing it came out. Because when I talked to my mum on the phone in the evening, I found out that Ramadan started today. 😂 To briefly mention, Ramadan is a period of fasting as worship for a month in the Muslim faith. During this period, which is considered sacred, I think not to share alcoholic posts, and if I share with food, I think I will do it after iftar time. So, today I went through my archive again. And, I decided to talk about the play I went to with my girlfriend, which was played at the İsmet İnönü Art Centre in Kültür Park. Before entering the play, I want to tell you about the beautiful places I encountered until I reached the hall where the play was played.

Kültürpark is an area in the centre of Izmir, which is covered with many buildings offering cultural activities, a few official institutions and trees. Since it is a big area, there are several different entrance gates. İsmet İnönü Art Centre, where we watched the play, is close to the Lozan Gate on the Lozan Square side. I learnt this from the satnav because I went here for the first time. I think it was used for another purpose before. Although I follow the State Theatres all the time, I couldn't remember seeing such a stage. Maybe this is a problem with my memory. 😂

I travelled here by Tramway, because the Tramway stop is right opposite this gate. There are also many bus stops in front of the gate. You can also go by municipality buses or minibuses. Anyway, this is a very central place. I remember seeing a lot of buses in different places with the words "Lausanne Square" on them. Going with a personal car will turn into a torment due to the parking problem. The first thing that catches your eye when you get off the Tramway stop here is the big round object placed in the ornamental pool in the junction in the centre of Lausanne Square. I don't know what this is.

The statue of Poet Eşref, which is located right next to the Tramway stop, has disappeared and blended in with the people. This is a name I hear a lot. Because the name of the boulevard, which is frequently used and on which the statue is located, is Şair Eşref Boulevard. This is probably the reason why this statue is here. Wouldn't you like to know the person who named the road you walk on? To be honest, I sometimes do research on the internet about the streets named after people. I'm not sure why I'm doing this, it could be unemployment 😂

Since I went early, while waiting for my girlfriend, I waited at the door for a while before going inside. This is a really lively place. People and cars pass by all the time. After entering through this big gate, it is a completely different world. There is a transition from asphalt, buildings and dirty air to a very healthy environment full of large trees, walking paths, bicycle paths, lawns, illuminated ornamental pools. A calmness descended on me with the changing environment. A calmness that is healthy and confident. I like this feeling, a kind of ecstasy comes over me.

The first building I come across inside is called 'Pakistan Pavyon'. This name of the building both surprises and makes me laugh. I thought it was a kind of Ankara tavern where people of Pakistani nationality worked inside and where they came from.😂 It seemed strange to me that the Tavern Culture passed through Cultural interaction between countries. Moreover, when I read the board, I realise that there is no such thing. This made me a little relieved.😂 Afterwards, I breathed the atmosphere created by the artificial pool here with the perfect lighting and got over the tavern shock on me.😂

I made my way to the Art Centre in peace, crossing the pathway surrounded by trees. I didn't go inside because my girlfriend still hadn't arrived. There was about half an hour before the play started. The statue of İsmet İnönü was in front of the building, and in front of it there were various trees, an area covered with grass, the presentation of the tree here and a colourful stone. It is both visually beautiful and can be used for sitting. I like usable and artistic objects. Colourful objects... 'Art is on the Street'... Although this is not a street, this inscription on the stone is one of my favourite sentences. I think an even better sentence would be 'Art is everywhere'. I haven't seen a place that says this yet. It is necessary to add some colour to life. When I looked at the sign introducing the tree, I saw that the origin of the tree was Brazil. What is this. Pavilion from Pakistan, tree from Brazil...😂 Moreover, there was no promotional board under or next to the statue of İsmet İnönü. They introduced the tree more.😂 It must have been assumed that everyone already knew İsmet İnönü...

When my girlfriend arrived, we went up the red carpet stairs and entered the building. Inside, there is a self-service cafeteria. This cafeteria belongs to the Municipality. Because I remember that the price was affordable, this is a State Theatre stage. All the tables inside the cafeteria were full. The density in this narrow corridor is pleasing. It is good that there is such a crowded theatre audience and that they prefer the play we prefer.

The theatre was large and had a new look. Almost all of the hall was full. It is almost impossible not to show interest in an event related to Atatürk in Izmir. Of course, this is my opinion. In addition, the play itself was marvellous with its acting, decors, musical, sound systems and story. This was the first time I saw a play in this style. In the centre of the stage, there was a screen on which an image was projected with a projector. Behind the curtain, there was a choir of about 20 people whose faces were not visible. The choir consisted of the actors of the play. Before the scenes of the play were performed, the choir would recite the poetised story in the form of a song, accompanied by music, and then the scene would be performed. The actors working on the stage would leave the chorus and return to the chorus after playing their roles.

The story of the game is a known and lived event, although I do not know it because I am ignorant even in the most known or should-be-known subjects. Therefore, I do not consider it a spoiler to mention this story briefly. The name of the game comes from the famous sentence of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. I had heard this phrase before. But I did not know the story. In the early years of the Republic, the perpetrators of an unsuccessful assassination attempt organised by an opposing group against Atatürk are caught before they take action. The play tells the planning and development of this assassination attempt. The famous quote comes from the speech made after the assassins are caught and the incident is heard.

My humble body will surely one day turn to dust, but the Republic of Turkey will remain forever.
Mustafa Kemal ATATÜRK

It made me very embarrassed that I had no knowledge of this event, even that there was an assassination attempt on Ataturk. Although history is a branch that I find boring, I think it is necessary to know some events. Finally, my only criticism about the play is the spittle coming out of the mouth of the actor playing the role of Atatürk. To be honest, I can understand this, because he made loud, long speeches and tried to change his voice while doing so. However, I think the curtain and lighting on the stage could have been adjusted in such a way that this could not be seen during these speeches. Maybe this was the first staging and they could not foresee this. Fortunately, everything else was perfect. I wish everyone an auspicious Ramadan. Stay with art...

Selam millet!

Keyifle okudum.
