A Very Catchy Title

avatar

To write or not to write? The question that always runs through my head whenever I feel bored. Everytime I feel like I'm just wasting my time watching the same shit on TV and thinking of making my day more productive I think of that question.

And then I ask myself what topic to write about. And then I think of a very catchy title before I start writing. That's how I do it. So for this article I'm gonna write about "Catchy Titles".

A catchy title is certainly a great way to stimulate anyone's curiousity and get people to read your post. You are just taking advantage of the fact that us humans are naturally a curious species. It's the main reason why we have what we have now because we are always curious to know how things work. Because of this curiousity we are able to discover new knowledge, invent new technology and so on and so forth. And because of this curiousity people click on posts with really catchy titles.

So catchy titles, I was thinking of a really good one like "How to make a million Hive in 3 days?".That would definitely catch anybody's attention and get me a lot of views. But the problem with that title is I need to back it up 'coz if not, then I would just make a bad reputation for myself as a "click-bait" writer.

If people start reading my article 'coz they're curious to know how to get rich in 3 days,(well, some people think that way. people who believe in miracles and you can find a lot of them in lottery stations.) and after going through the whole article which is about carpentry or whatever and not read anything about how to be a Hive millionaire in 3 days then I'd get people cussing me like,

"I can't believe I wasted 5 minutes of my Goddamn time reading about carpentry. FUCK!"

Well, it's not my fault you believe in miracles.

There's nothing wrong with it though. Sometimes you just have to get people through the front door to get them to read your amazing article. Would you really choose a title for your post like,

"How I made 20 bucks out of 20 articles?"

If I read that title and click on it (somehow), I think I know what to expect. Just by the title alone people already know how lousy your writing is. So why bother. 20 bucks in 20 articles? Are you fucking kidding me? If I was making that kind of money with my writing I would quit after my third try. But that's just me, some people are just passionate about writing and don't care about the rewards. But 20 bucks? Really?

So be very careful in choosing a title for your post. You need to consider the fact that people will expect something from the title you've chosen for your post and if you fail to deliver those people will not bother reading your next post. You want people to click on your post and what better way to do this than with a click-bait catchy title but you need to support it with a really great write-up. If you managed to get people to read your post then make a really good first impression to them with your writing so they'd come back for more. Try to keep that in mind.

A catchy title will only be a catchy title if it's followed by a really interesting article. Other than that then it's just a click-bait title.

A catchy title is also very important especially if you're just starting out and no one knows who you are yet. When you're still trying to build your audience, you need to be very creative with your titles 'coz that's how you get attention for your post. Or you could just go to a community discord and promote your post there but if you don't have the time for that then it's best you come up with a really good title. Eventually, you're gonna be less and less dependent to it once you've made a name for yourself as a great content creator.

When you've grown your following to let's say 5000 Hivers then you can pick a title like, "My blog post #657" and you'd still get attention for your post but mostly from your followers. But out of good habit, people with huge following still use catchy titles to spark interest from people who have not heard of them yet and hopefully obtain new followers.

Hmmmm? This post is starting to sound like the importance of catchy titles maybe I should change the title but I've already tried using the word "important" in my last post's title and that did not get much attention as I had hope (but I got 4 new followers from that post, though) so I'm sticking with this one.

So how do you come up with a really catchy title? Beats me! I really don't worry about the title so much. Like I said, I pick a topic and I think of a title and then I start writing about it. But that's just me, if I were to suggest a catchy title for your post I'd suggest you use the words "make money", "get more rewards" or "1000 upvotes" in your title. For example: "Just another day in the beach; Make money" or "My favorite ice cream flavor; Get more rewards". It really sounds like click-bait but hey, if you can back it up with a really great article then who's to say.

At the end of the day, it's your post so no one can tell you what title to call it. Some people will like it and some people won't but you can never really please everybody. So you decide what title you choose and live with the results then you learn from it.

And that's the end of the post.

Thank you for making it to the end I hope you enjoyed reading it.
