IDLES are an English rock band formed in Bristol in 2009 The band consists of Joe Talbot (vocals), Mark Bowen (guitar), Lee Kiernan (guitar), Adam Devonshire (bass) and Jon Beavis (drums).
Their debut album, Brutalism, was released in 2017 to critical acclaim, as was their second album Joy as an Act of Resistance in 2018. Their third album, Ultra Mono, was released on September 25, 2020.
IDLES son una banda de rock inglesa formada en Bristol en 2009 La banda está formada por Joe Talbot (voz), Mark Bowen (guitarra), Lee Kiernan (guitarra), Adam Devonshire (bajo) y Jon Beavis (batería).
Su álbum de debut, Brutalism, se publicó en 2017 con gran éxito de crítica, al igual que su segundo álbum Joy as an Act of Resistance en 2018. Su tercer álbum, Ultra Mono, se publicó el 25 de septiembre de 2020.
IDLES is a band that during the past decade made a great reputation, they became very loved within the punk rock and indie music scene as they managed to present albums, they had a very special sound, idles presented us with a kind of punk rock that had the wild, raw, precarious, noisy character of post hardcore.
IDLES es una banda que durante la década pasada se hizo una gran reputación, se hicieron muy queridos dentro de la escena del punk rock y la música independiente ya que lograron presentar álbumes, tenían un sonido muy especial, idles nos presento un tipo de punk rock que tenia el carácter salvaje, crudo, precario, ruidoso del post hardcore.
For example in the Brutalism album they released in 2017 had references to bands like The Jesus Lizards, besides having this sound they had many references to post punk, one of their special elements is that frontman Joe Talbot has a presence and energy on stage to the classic punk rock of The Damned, that irreverent sound, good for fighting and being upset with the world, to release stress while screaming, this mix of sounds manifested excellent in this album.
Brutalism made me fall in love with this band because within this album the sound was very wild, very raw, the lyricism was in the background very political, deeply political, based on current contemporary issues about class struggle, toxic masculinity suffered by his mother and his nihilistic and self-destructive attitude.
Por ejemplo en el de álbum Brutalism que sacaron en el año 2017 tenia referencias de bandas como The Jesus Lizards, además de tener este sonido ellos tenían muchas referencias del post punk, uno de sus elementos especiales es que el frontman Joe Talbot tiene una presencia y energía en el escenario al punk rock clásico de The Damned, ese sonido irreverente, bueno para pelear y estar molesto con el mundo, para liberar estrés mientras gritas, esta mescla de sonidos se manifestó excelente en este álbum.
Brutalism me hizo enamorarme de esta banda ya que dentro de este álbum el sonido estaba muy salvaje, muy crudo, el lirismo era en el fondo muy político, profundamente político, basado en problemáticas contemporáneas actuales acerca la lucha de clases, masculinidad toxica que sufrió su madre y su actitud nihilista y autodestructiva.
Among my favorite songs on this album you can find Well Done which talks about a satire to those kind of classist snobs who would ignore the scum who don't achieve their goals, ignoring how complicated they would be.
Entre mis canciones favoritas de este álbum se puede encontrar Well done que habla sobre una satira a esa clase de snobs clasistas que no harian caso omiso a la escoria que no logra sus objetivos, ignorando lo complicado que serian.
There's Heel / Heal which is about everyone following in everyone else's footsteps, buying matching houses and cookie cutters, like dogs following their master with none having any unique distinction.
Esta Heel / Heal que trata acerca de todos siguiendo los mismos pasos de los demás, comprando casas iguales y moldes para hacer galletas, como perros siguiendo a su amo sin ninguno tener alguna distinción única.
Or White Privilege where the title could very well refer to the class struggle, it's just a reference to the singer's college years where he spent all the money they gave him on drugs and alcohol with his friends hahahaha, they were all white and privileged and that's it, it just talks about privilege but still has a very special sound for me.
O White Privilege donde su titulo puede referirse muy bien a la lucha de clases solo es una referencia a los años de la universidad del cantante donde gasto todo el dinero que le daban en drogas y alcohol con sus amigos jajajaja, eran todos blancos y privilegiados y ya esta, solo habla del privilegio pero aun así tiene un sonido muy especial para mi.
Then they released a second album Joy As An Act Of Resistance, in that album they polish the sound, they refine the post punk sounds, it has a lot of rhythm, the choruses are more attractive, and most importantly in that second album they focus their lyricism and become for me one of the representatives of the political lyrics of this past decade, in that album the political lyrics become more proactive, they have a progressive ideology and take social and political problems, something very punk rock, they take these failures in society and give it a very contemporary tinge.
Luego sacan un segundo álbum Joy As An Act Of Resistance , en ese álbum pulen el sonido, se afinan mas los sonidos de post punk, tiene muchísimo ritmo, los coros son más atractivos, y lo mas importante en ese segundo álbum ellos enfocan su lirismo y se vuelven para mi uno de los representantes del de las letras políticas de esta década pasada, en ese álbum las letras políticas se vuelven más propositivas, tienen una ideología progresista y toman problemas sociales y políticos, algo muy punk rock, toman estas fallas en la sociedad y le dan un tinte muy contemporáneo.
Within the lyrics of Joy's album we have gender identity, race, current issues such as toxic masculinity, immigration, all those issues that are tinginging our current political discourse, in that album they address them in a very sophisticated way and handle them in a very positive way, very anti-doomer, they understand the social problems but have a very welcoming optimism, very contagious.
Dentro de esas letras de el álbum de Joy tenemos identidad de género, de raza, temas actuales como masculinidad toxica, inmigración, todos esos temas que están tiñiendo nuestro discurso político actual, en ese álbum los abordan de una manera muy sofisticada y lo manejan de una forma muy positiva, muy antidoomer, entiende los problemas sociales pero tiene un optimismo muy acogedor, demasiado contagioso.
Colossus where the lyrics talk about reinforcing masculinity in a satirical way, those typical manly motivational phrases and the problem of being "a real man in this 21st century".
Colossus en donde las letras hablan de reforzar la masculinidad de una forma satírica, esas típicas frases de motivación viriles y el problema de ser “un hombre de verdad en este siglo XXI”.
Samaritans talks about manhood and that you should always be a manly man, you shouldn't cry and you shouldn't like other men, that all that is inculcated by many ideologically closed parents, but why can't I cry and like other men, be weaker and things like that? I can do it without caring about anything else.

Danny Nedelko which is a song of union, a song dedicated to the immigrant singer of the musical group Heavy Lungs, is a very funny song, full of praises to the immigrants, and to this great friend of Joe Talbot, the frontman of IDLES.

A long time goes by and then we have this third album called ultra mono, this album is different, the lyricism is excellent here, it is very close to an intricate progressive idea, current, of union, anti class reductionism, it is very present in this album, the lyricism of this album is as good as Joy, nothing has been lost and keeps its good work, it has the song, In sound this album has many shades of post punk and post hardcore in songs like War, Reings, kill Them With Kindness, they have that raw, dirty, no desire to be presentable sound that is very present in Brutalism, the power of the bass and drums.
Pasa ya mucho tiempo y luego tenemos este tercer álbum que se llama ultra mono, este álbum es distinto, El lirismo esta excelente acá, está muy aproximado a una idea progresista intrincada, actual, de unión, anti reduccionismo de clase, está muy presente en este álbum, el lirismo de este álbum esta tan bueno como Joy, no se ha perdido nada y mantiene su buen trabajo, tiene la canción, En el sonido este álbum tiene muchas matices de post punk y post hardcore en canciones como War, Reings, kill Them With Kindness, tienen ese sonido crudo, sucio, sin ganas de ser presentable que está muy presente en Brutalism, la potencia de los bajos y la batería.
War is a critique of the ideology of war, with a sound too wild. Mr. Motivator has motivation, a very positive lyricism, this song for me is very special because it was released when the quarantine of 2020 was a few months old and I was going through some very bad times, it motivated me to overcome them and be more productive, its lyric is very friendly, I love it.

Kill Them With Kindness I love that song because it criticizes the idea of pacifism that the oppressed have to remain pacifist to stop being oppressed, because violence against violence is forbidden, it is a right-wing ideology to prevent the oppressed to stop being pacifist and get out of that oppression. It criticizes the attitude of pacifism and conformism, that ideology of maintaining the status quo, it makes fun of that.
Kill Them With Kindness me encanta esa canción porque critica esa idea del pacifismo de que el oprimido tiene que seguir siendo pacifista para dejar de ser oprimido, porque violencia contra violencia está prohibida, es una ideología de derecha para evitar que los oprimidos dejen de ser pacifistas y salgan de esa opresión. Critica la actitud de pacifismo y conformismo, esa ideología de mantener el status quo, se burla de eso.
I love Model Village because it attacks those ultra-right wing ideas like All White, which are people who say they only want a white society, but there is no other way to apply that ideology if not with genocide. Everyone is equal everyone has the same culture, everyone is equal, and they live in fear because all that ideology is only maintained with tyranny.

I love IDLES very much, they have a very raw sound, very interesting lyrics to read and their live performances are very cool, I love the singing energy of frontman Joe, the guitarist Mar Bowen who always makes very eccentric performances, and the others I also love them very much, they all play their role and deliver a good job of music that is very worthy of appreciation.
Amo mucho IDLES, tiene un sonido muy crudo, letras muy interesantes de leer y sus presentaciones en vivo son muy geniales, amo la energía de cantar del frontmand Joe, el guitarrista Mar Bowen que siempre hace actuaciones muy excéntricas, y los demás también los adoro muchísimo, todos cumplen su función y entregan un buen trabajo de música que es muy digno de apreciar
