A walk in the Park

The phone kept ringing and ringing, Zoe wanted to ignore it but it just won't stop. Zoe got up angrily, and picked up the phone.
"Hello" , a voice came from the phone. Zoe recognizing the voice hung up without saying a word.
She lay back on her bed staring at the window close to her bed, as she was at same time caressing her lowcut hair.

The phone began to ring again, but this time it couldn't bother Zoe, She had wandered in thoughts into another world.

Somewhere else was sitted Peter on a wooden chair. Peter was stirring a cup of coffee, he raised the cup to his mouth to take a sip and when the liquid got into his mouth he spit it out like it was some poison. He had been stirring the tea for so long, absent minded, that it had become too cold.

He got up to get something to clean up the spill. And as he walked to the kitchen, Ziggler wrestled him to the ground. The Canine had Peter covered in saliva. "Easy boy, easy" Peter tried to get up but the Canine was too powerful.

Zoe was in her basement finishing up a clients work, which she had to deliver later in the day. It was one of the few things that had kept her sane in the past few days. She loves what she does and was well good at it.

On her way to deliver the work to her client, she wondered who her client was. She hadn't got to meet her client in person before, she actually got the Job through a former client. Normally, she wouldn't care who the client was but this work was different, there was so much detail that was emphasized on. She was intrigued.

Peter was taking Ziggler on a walk in the park. Ziggler loved to play fetch but Peter's arms didn't afford him the ability to throw it very far which often let Ziggler frustrated. So this time Peter got a machine to help throw the disc farther than he could. And although moving the machine around was hectic for Peter because it's heights, Peter would do anything for his only friend.

Zoe got to the Location she was given but she hadn't been sent the number to call as promised so she was stranded and just as she was about calling the man that linked her up with the new client a man starting walking towards her.

"Oh no...no!" Zoe said, "not this bastard again". "Zoe, please hear me out", Zoe looked at the man before her, with her eyebrows raised at acute angles, "Jerry!, you jerk! you won't stop with your calls and now you're stalking me?". "I can..." the Jerry's sentence was cut short by a hit to the head. "Oh my!" Zoe said giggling, the giggle which turned down when a giant dog came running towards her direction with a man chasing after it hopelessly.

"I'm so sorry, is he fine?" Peter said while still panting, Zoe looked at Jerry laying spread out on the floor "he'll be fine". Peter was still trying to get a hold of Ziggler when he tripped Zoe. "I'm so sorry" Peter said while trying to raise her up but ending up being drawn to the ground over Zoe. Peter got up quickly in the awkwardness of the moment and noticed the package Zoe was holding. "Sorry, are you supposed to deliver this to someone?", Zoe with several infoldings on her forehead and dusting herself up replied "yes, and you almost ruined".

Peter scratching his bald head, felt uneasy. "Accept my apologies but is it in any way meant for a Mr. Peter?". "We need to leave here first" Zoe said seeing that Jerry had begun to regain conciousness, held Peter's hands dragging him along.

Zoe and Peter got talking and intrigued each other. Peter for the first time found someone who didn't care about his stature and Zoe found someone who understood or cared to hear her "rambling". They talked at length, finding solace in the moment and were only interrupted by Ziggler who threw himself in-between the two after wincing for quite a while without attention.

Peter loved the artwork which was a portrait of Ziggler and Zoe loved that he genuinely appreciated and understood her art.
Peter described the moment as "a breath of fresh air" while Zoe described having a conversation with him as "a walk in the park".

What an entertaining and funny story, with very good hilarious moments. Now Zoe will be more in love with Peter after those good times.

Awwwww. What a way to find love. I was intrigued by your story, I honestly loved it. Perhaps (just a suggestion), you might want to read Inkwells Catalogue of Fiction Writing Tips because it'll help you construct your story more beautiful. You already write beautifully just some finishing touches.

This story has an interesting structure. It is almost told in frames that give us a visual impression of what is occurring in each life. Peter on one hand, spitting out tea and walking his dog. Zoe on the other hand, finishing her work and avoiding Peter. They all meet coincidentally and there is a 'knockout'. Whether or not Zoe and Peter form a personal relationship that develops, doesn't matter. They have met and become friends. One might say Ziggler is the glue that held them together.

Nice, original story, @bahnhoft. Thank you for sharing it with us. Have you commented on the writing of at least two other authors in the community? Thank you!

I loved your story and most of all after reading this sentence I imagined that I wanted a dog and that it would jump between me and my future wife. This was a very warm and very enjoyable story. Congratulations to you.
Happy New Year!
