A few days ago, as I was introducing HIVE to a friend, showing her the posts I publish there and talking about how difficult it is for a Thai to learn and publish posts in English in addition to Thai, she asked me if I had ever visited Wat Sirisrilasuparam.

I was still thinking, but I didn't know this temple, so I asked her. “Where is this temple, why have I never heard of it? So she showed me a picture of this temple and told me that they had just finished building it after so many years. It immediately caught my attention.

As you have probably all noticed by now if you read my posts regularly, in addition to the beautiful and popular temples in Phuket such as Wat Chalong, Big Buddha... there are plenty of others that are just waiting for one thing, that we go and visit them.

Once again the weather is beautiful today, we are really in the best part of the year here in Phuket, so why not go to visit and to make merit at this temple, it tempts you? Let's go.

To get to Wat Sirisrilasuparam temple you just have to use the same route as the one to Wat Chalong temple, the temple is just 500 meters before. The temple is 7 kilometers from the city.

img_20220106_145452.jpg

The atmosphere inside the temple is quiet and peaceful, with no tourists like Wat Chalong or Big Buddha. A perfect place if you like to visit the temples in peace, without a noisy and oppressive crowd.

img_20220106_145647.jpg

Entering the temple area, you will see a chapel built in the middle of a pond causing reflections of the chapel in the water, very beautiful.

img_20220106_145906.jpg

Due to the Covid-19 epidemic, the chapel is closed to visitors, and one cannot enter the interior, but only admire its beauty from the outside.

img_20220106_150026.jpg

If you look from this angle, you will see the majestic white dome roof of the pagoda and the golden yellow dome roof of the Museum of Replica of Luang Pu Supha.

img_20220106_143428.jpg

This is a percussion gong, made of metal alloy in the shape of a circular disc, beautifully painted with Thai motifs. The round button in the middle is the place to hit to make it sound.

In the past, the country was not as prosperous as today, the clock was only available at the temple. The monks had to play drums or bell gongs as a signal to tell the villagers the time.

img_20220106_143556.jpg

This is a museum showing statues of Luang Pu Supa and his biography.

img_20220106_144553.jpg

Wat Luang Pu Supa or its official name Wat Sirisrilasuparam is a temple where the famous monk Luang Pu Supa lived. One of Phuket’s best-known monks passed away on Monday, September 2, 2013, at the incredible age of 115 years having thus known 5 reigns of the kingdom of Thailand.

Considered an emblematic theological figure, Luang Pu Supa is both a monk and one of the top guru monks in Thailand. He contributed to the construction of 38 temples throughout Thailand and its virtues are the subject of many rumors.

Famously known by the Thais as the "Spider King", he has a famous talisman, the "King Wealth Fetching Spider" relating to the spider's web which symbolizes the trapping of luck, wealth, and opportunities. Which was transmitted by Luang Pu Suk to Wat Pak Klong Makhamtao, a teacher who also owns a magic crocodile that protects him from robbers.

img_20220106_144914.jpg

When paying respect to Luang Pu Supa. Let's go for a walk outside and explore what's there.

img_20220106_142407.jpg

When walking outside the museum on the left-hand side, you will see a large pagoda that looks like a white dome which contrasts with the color of the sky, it is very beautiful.

img_20220106_142513.jpg

But at some point, there will be a large black cloud floating above the top of the pagoda causing the hot temperature from sunlight to be reduced enough.

img_20220106_142643.jpg

img_20220106_142704.jpg

img_20220106_142949.jpg

This pagoda is not yet complete, but it is very beautiful.

img_20220106_143035.jpg

In front of the pagoda, you can see the view below within the entire temple grounds and can also see the chedi of Wat Chalong as well.

img_20220106_143208.jpg

img_20220106_142929.jpg

This area is the highest point of the temple overlooking the surrounding scenery. Behind the pagoda is a mountain and a large golden Buddha image is enshrined on the hill.

img_20220108_160714.jpg

In addition to the beautiful temple here, there is also a reservoir at the back of the temple. Let's go to see the view of the reservoir.

img_20220108_160706.jpg

img_20220108_160535.jpg

This reservoir was recently completed by extracting some rocks to expand the surface of the reservoir to make it larger and hold more water to use in case of water shortage.

img_20220108_161734.jpg

Here, besides being a reservoir, it is also a place for relaxation and exercise for health lovers.

img_20220108_161922.jpg

img_20220108_161821.jpg

The view of the reservoir is very beautiful. It is a view of the mountains that are still fertile and full of trees. The whole atmosphere is very good to cool breeze. There is also a waterfall here, but I couldn't find it.🤣🤣

img_20220108_161720.jpg

img_20220108_161506.jpg

I hope you enjoyed the temple visit of the day that for sure even if you came by the past in Phuket you never went. 🤣
