An amazing Buddhist temple made of silver!

Hello everyone

Most Thai people have things that hold their minds when they are suffering and can't find a way out. 95% of the population practicing Buddhism many go to temples to listen to the Dharma in order to calm their mind and not be distracted. In Thailand, there are many incredible temples whose construction amazes many tourists. The money to build the temple came mainly from the faith of the Buddhists, some temples have people who have a lot of faith and receive large donations to build a big temple. Nowadays, temples are not only an anchor for Buddhists' minds but also a tourist attraction.

What about you, when you are sad or discouraged in life, what do you use as a spiritual anchor?

Thai temples in each region have different construction designs because of the different ways of life in each region. Today I'm going to take everyone to visit the temple at the first Ubosot made of silver in Thailand which is in the north of Thailand.

How to go to Sri Suphan Temple?

The temple can be reached in 3 ways when you stay in Bangkok.

The first one is a plane ride from Bangkok to Chiang Mai, it takes only 1 hour and 15 minutes. Now, many airlines company offer services, not only flying from Bangkok to Chiang Mai only, like the plane from Phuket-Chiang Mai which takes only 2 hours.

I travel from Phuket to Chiang Mai without wasting time in Bangkok which is very convenient. The temple is only 3 kilometers from the airport so you can walk or if you prefer you can take a taxi that has many services at the airport, it will cost you less than 150 baht (3.96$)

The second option is to take a bus from Bangkok to Chiang Mai which takes 9 hours and 40 minutes. The temple is 6 kilometers from Chiang Mai Bus Terminal, you can take a tuk-tuk or the red bus which costs about 20-30 baht (0.53-0.79$) per person to reach it. But you have to negotiate the fare before getting on the bus because if you are a foreign tourist, you may be charged a higher fare than usual.

If you have enough time and love to see both sides of the road taking the train from Bangkok to Chiang Mai is another good option. Trains from Bangkok to Chiang Mai have sleeper cars that allow you to sleep comfortably or sit and enjoy the view on both sides, the train journey takes 13 hours and 5 minutes. The temple is about 5 kilometers from Chiang Mai Railway Station. You can take a tuk-tuk or the red bus (see below).

If you are in Chiang Mai for several days and have an international driving license I recommend renting a motorcycle. The rental price is about 150 baht (3.96$) per day or renting a car for a rental price of about 1,000 baht (26.37$) per day, which is convenient for your travels.

Let's go to Sri Suphan Temple.

Sri Suphan Temple is located on Wua Lai Road, Hai Ya Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chiang Mai Province. Sri Suphan Temple is located in the Wua Lai district which is a famous silverware community in Chiang Mai with faith in Buddhism, silversmiths together built the Ubosot with silver. It is the first Ubosot in Thailand and has a delicate beauty with Lanna art It has become one of Chiang Mai's cultural attractions.

Sri Suphan Temple was built in the year 1500 AD during the reign of King Mueang Kaeo. King of Chiang Mai Ratchathani and Queen Sirisawadee Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. Sri Suphan Temple is open every day, free to visit from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Visitors to the temple should dress modestly to respect the place. Now there are more buildings inside the temple, there may be noise and dust so people who are allergic to dust should wait until they finished to visit this temple.

Sri Suphan Temple is also a popular place for pre-wedding photos of the newlyweds.

Within this Ubosot, women cannot enter because under the base of the Ubosot there are spells and sacred things. Some believe that the women will make the magic deteriorate (such an old way of thinking hahaha) but they can watch around only the Ubosot. Unfortunately, I can't go to see the beauty inside the ubosot so the picture inside the Ubosot was taken by my young son.

Because Sri Suphan Temple is located in the handicraft community. The temple has inherited the heritage of art which is wisdom. Established as a Lanna handicraft hall at Sri Suphan Temple. Many skilled craftsmen have worked together to build an ubosot made of pure silver tin-silver and aluminum. Got a beautiful work Inside the ubosot, there are pictures of the Buddha's history. And a large Buddha image in the subduing Mara is enshrined as the president inside the Ubosot.

The weather in Chiang Mai is very hot these days. In the afternoon, sunlight hits the ubosot made of silverware causing beautiful reflections.

This is the back of the Ubosot which is as beautiful and delicate as the front. The back wall is Buddhist history. After the Buddha attained enlightenment and taught his disciples.

Besides the Ubosot, there is a large Ganesha Buddha image enshrined. Ganesha is a human body with an elephant head is the god of success. Which is a god that Thai people have a lot of faith. Ganesha can be seen in front of a large company. Or the most famous and the most people who go to pray for blessings are at Central World Department Store Bangkok.

In front, two Thao Wessuwan statues are standing to protect the Ubosot. Devotees brought red offerings such as red garlands, red flowers, and red drinks. Thao Wessuwan Thai people believe that can summon wealth and dispel evil.

The red building in front has statues of King Rama V and the Queen. Inside the building is a silverware museum.

Silverware maker in various shapes. It is a souvenir product to sell to tourists.

In addition to the ubosot made of beautiful silverware. There is also another Ubosot which is beautiful as well used for important Buddhist ceremonies. So I took my son to make merit with the monks inside the ubosot. The monk gave blessings and tied the holy thread on the wrist along with the holy water sprinkling. Before we go to visit my sister in Tak province.

What a majestic temple 😍 it is impressive everything you tell us about this, emphasizing who finances its construction and what use it has depending on people's beliefs. Also you delight us with lots and lots of pictures of this beautiful place in Chiang Mai, Thailand. It is beautiful! ❤️

Wow, what a beautiful temple, I am always enchanted when I see such constructions.
I always wonder how much talent and patience the people who built it must have had.
Have a wonderful weekend.
