Right now, no matter where you find yourself in Thailand, the weather is scorching hot. Phuket is no exception, especially in the afternoons when the heat is almost unbearable. Eager to escape the intensity, I set out in search of a charming, shaded spot – a restaurant or cafe that could offer respite from the sweltering sun.

That's when I stumbled upon "Cherna88 Cafe & Restaurant." To my surprise, this oasis of coolness was nestled right in the heart of Phuket town. Shaded by a canopy of trees, it was a stark contrast to the surrounding sea of condominiums. The very idea of finding such a peaceful haven amidst the urban bustle was almost unbelievable.

The contrast between the urban landscape and the serene atmosphere of Cherna88 was striking. It became more than just a place to escape the heat; it was a haven where nature and the city coexisted harmoniously. In the midst of Phuket town's hustle, I had found a cool retreat, a hidden gem offering shade, tranquility, and relief from the unforgiving heat.

In front of the shop lies a quaint wooden bridge that gracefully spans across the vibrant green rice fields. The fields are in the midst of their growth, with lush rice ears emerging, promising a golden harvest in the near future. The anticipation of the transformation adds a sense of life to the surroundings.

Adjacent to the rice fields lies a serene blue pond, creating a picturesque scene. To the left of the pond stands a large bird's nest, strategically placed for capturing stunning photos. It serves as a unique and charming feature, offering a touch of whimsy to the landscape.

On the right side of the pond, a cluster of lotus plants decorates the water's edge. Unfortunately, I missed the chance to witness the lotus flowers in full bloom, as they only open their delicate petals in the morning. It's a small regret, but the anticipation of returning during the right season lingers in my mind.

Despite the missed opportunity with the lotus flowers, the overall atmosphere of this place is undeniably beautiful. The combination of the wooden bridge, flourishing rice fields, and tranquil pond creates a captivating scene, inviting visitors to appreciate the harmony of nature.

As I stepped into the store, a warm greeting from the friendly staff immediately welcomed me. The atmosphere inside was inviting, but what caught my attention was the remarkable centerpiece of the shop – a large tree positioned right in the middle. Its branches gracefully spread out, forming a natural canopy that offered shade and a sense of tranquility.

Upon closer inspection, I noticed that the tree was adorned with numerous parasites clinging to its trunk and branches. Surprisingly, these additions didn't detract from its beauty; instead, they enhanced the tree's appeal, creating a unique and captivating display. The parasites added intricate patterns and textures, turning the tree into a living work of art.

Beyond the pleasant atmosphere, the store also boasts numerous captivating photo corners. As I explored further, I discovered charming nooks and crannies designed with aesthetics in mind, providing perfect settings for capturing memorable photographs. Whether it's an artfully arranged display, a thoughtfully decorated corner, or an intriguing backdrop, each photo spot seems to tell its own unique story. These photo corners added an extra layer of enjoyment to my visit.

I managed to snap pictures of the inviting atmosphere outside the restaurant before my growling stomach reminded me of the primary reason for my visit – the promise of a satisfying meal. The restaurant offered a variety of zones to choose from, each with its appeal. Given the sweltering heat, I decided to seek refuge in the comfort of the air-conditioned room.

Seated in the cool, refreshing environment, I perused the menu and opted for my usual when dining solo – one dish and one drink. It's a strategy I've adopted to ensure I savor every bite without overwhelming my appetite. The decision was made, and I placed my order, eagerly anticipating the culinary delights to come.

Surprisingly, the wait for my meal was short-lived. The waiter swiftly presented a plate of perfectly stir-fried squid, accompanied by a refreshing green tea smoothie. The aroma wafting from the dish heightened my anticipation, and as I took my first bite, I was met with a burst of flavors that surpassed my expectations. The squid was cooked to perfection, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, while the green tea smoothie complemented the meal with its mellow and satisfying taste. In that air-conditioned haven, surrounded by delightful aromas and relishing a delicious meal, I found a moment of culinary bliss, making my visit to the restaurant a memorable and satisfying experience.

Satiated and content after a satisfying meal, I settled my bill and decided to further explore the expanse of the restaurant. The establishment revealed itself to be quite expansive, with a division between an outdoor area and a comfortably air-conditioned space. As I strolled through, I noticed a diverse mix of patrons, including a few foreigners, relishing their meals or engrossed in their work.

The side of the restaurant offered a picturesque view providing a serene backdrop that added to the overall charm. The natural beauty of the surrounding environment seamlessly blended with the restaurant's ambiance, creating a unique and inviting setting.

Curiosity led me to the back of the restaurant, where I discovered a tranquil garden shaded by a canopy of trees. It was a peaceful oasis, offering a quiet escape from the hustle and bustle of the dining area. Taking a moment to unwind, I found a secluded spot to rest, surrounded by the soothing sounds of nature.

As I relaxed in the garden, I marveled at the thoughtful design of the restaurant, seamlessly integrating nature into its space. The combination of good food, a diverse clientele, and the serene surroundings made my visit a truly memorable experience. Eventually, recharged and rejuvenated, I reluctantly left the peaceful garden and embarked on my journey home, carrying with me the fond memories of a delightful afternoon spent in this unique and welcoming restaurant.
