Splinterlands - Some tips on SPS rental market

Splinterlands recently introduced a great feature to make use of the unused SPS stake. The game gives SPS to the players in the form of rewards. On top of that, people who are staking their SPS also get a decent APR. In addition to these two, a new feature was the SPS rental market. I got a chance to explore this new feature about 2 weeks back. My rentals were active and only a few days back I got the chance to view the completed rentals and fill the bid orders again for a different set of accounts.

Use monstermarket and get a cashback

For anything to do with Splinterlands purchase, my first go-to place is monstermarket. It is one of the oldest third-party markets for splinterlands and recently after SPS rental was introduced, I saw an announcement on monstermarket discord and wanted to use their interface to test the rental system. One of the biggest reasons why people should use Monstermarket is the fact that they give 60% cash back on their market fees.

In addition to that, they also provide a good and friendly interface for the same. I personally had just one suggestion where it would be great to view the current rentals/delegations we have and also an option to do a bulk undelegation. The facility on Splinterlands website provides an option to do this only one by one which is painful. But I'm sure there should be an option available to do this in bulk. At least expecting it to be a feature in the future.

Fill bigger bids if you have more SPS staked

While using the SPS rental market, I noticed that it is better to fill the bigger bids first instead of choosing bids that are only 100 or 200 SPS. The problem with selecting smaller bids is that when it is time to undelegate, we have to do it manually one by one from the main website. This is a painful process. I realized that it is painful in just one week. I was very curious and had filled many 100 and 200 SPS bids and the pain was only when I had to undelegate them one by one.

Small returns are better than keeping the SPS stake idle

This is another learning that everyone should make including me. I was continuously checking the market to see if I can get a great deal. There used to be a time when rentals gave more than 10% APR. It did not last for a longer period of time. I was waiting for a good bid to happen and I noticed that as long as I wait, I'm just losing my income from rentals. I then decided to make use of whatever the bid price is in the market and started filling them.

The very first time when I filled the bids in the market I got them only for 0.007 DEC but later when I had delegated all my SPS stake I noticed the market was offering 0.013 DEC and I was surprised and thought I missed the opportunity. But later when I found out that it never happened again, I settled down with 0.008 DEC which was a decent one. I did not want to be greedy and just wait for the offer to increase and lose the days.
