Want to quit working and start playing games

Today I visited one of my friend's houses and he had a PS5 connected to a 60-inch television. I was so excited after seeing that. It has been my dream to play games on PS5 for several years. It is not that I cannot afford a PlayStation but I don't have the time right now for more entertainment. I'm focusing my energy more on doing some work than spending it on entertainment. Sometimes my mind says that I should distract myself from something but mostly it would be a short entertainment and not a long one.

Sometimes I watch some TV series or movies and that would be a good distraction for me. But it is only a short term. Unless I start a big TV series it is under control. But if I start playing games, I might start losing my power and start bringing a new routine to my life where there would be no extra activities for me than playing games and doing my day job. This is one thing that I fear and I don't get into games these days. I have been like this for several months about a few years back. Back then there were no extra activities for me than my day job.

Today I read a lot, learned a lot, and worked on some community projects too. But back then it was not the case and I had a lot of time to waste. Today after visiting the friend, I started to have a feeling that I should get back to that life again and at least once in a while. I remember playing a lot of games on my PC. I don't know how different the experience would be to play using a PlayStation but someday I want to try it.

I remember spending a lot of time playing GTA and other strategy games, especially Dota 2. Those were golden days. It was when I joined my day job and started playing the games in the first few years of my day job. I used to play a minimum of 12 hours a day. Every game in Dota 2 used to take a minimum of 1 hour and some games even go further than that. I used to play continuously one after the other. It was a very big addiction that I had. Later when I started focusing on learning and studying things related to my day job, I came out of this addiction. I stopped playing for nearly 2 years and later after I bought a new laptop, I wanted to test the performance of the laptop by playing Dota 2 again and finally got into the same addiction once again.

Today I have started to have a feeling that one fine day I want to stop working and start playing games like the good old days. I did not have any worry about my life or any fear about my life or health and I used to play for hours together. Today even for work, I'm finding it hard to sit in front of the system for hours together.

Its sounds why healither what you are doing now compared to gaming! I feel like I am slowly (very slowly) kicking the addition aswell.
I still play idle games or mobile games, but not big games after work, mainly because I am tired xD

But I want to get back into learning useful stuff, not just new games :D

I actually stopped playing games on my mobile too. Not even small games because I know how it would affect me and drink my time.

As the way of living has been detailed, we have seen that people have earned a lot of money by playing games, so we can also do it in this way. A person can also earn money playing his favourite game.

Earning by playing games would be the future of the gaming industry.

I know exactly what you mean. As time passes and as we grow old. Weve got less and less energy to spend, not just on gaming but everything else. A huge chunk of our time is consumed by work.

I just retired from the corporate world. No time commitments to anything at the moment yet. But somehow Ive lost interest in gaming. And i still need to get work. So now i am exploring free lancing. My take is that I would be increasing hive power so that my gaming content (and others) would earn decently. And eventually have more time to do something else or anything i want. Not a personal advice to anyone though. Thats just me.

It is definitely a great relief to get relieved from the corporate world. I think I might keep going for at least another 5 years and then retire. But not sure.

Wheee, ain't that cool?
BTW, giving 12 hours a day to game makes you a hardcore gamer for sure and I wander how you've totally left that life behind.

Today I have started to have a feeling that one fine day I want to stop working and start playing games like the good old days.

This reminds me of my childhood when I didn't afford to buy game disks that I wished to and all I had my mind were that I'd buy all the games that I like when I have my own money. Now I have money, now I have resources but I don't get proper time to fulfill that wish now. I guess that's life what we're dealing with.

Exactly same thoughts. I have also wandered during my childhood days without money to buy game equipments and CD disks.

But i did take that as a challenge and after I bought my laptop, I played a lot of games and quenched all my thirst. Today I fear to get back to that life because it definitely drinks the time which I don't have much right now.

I see. But I still hope you get free time to taste the latest goodies/games.

Bala Bhai this has been the dream of many people like you. Due to lack of time and so many responsibilities it may get postponed a bit but hopefully someday we will live this dream too 😊

Yes indeed. There should be a time in the future where we wouldn't have anything else to do and just play games and complete it.

Maybe you have to do as I have. That after working for so long and retiring, I can set aside time to play and do some work.
The only bad thing about it is that the list of pending games is quite long.
