A Call For Help.
"Run, Tracy, run!" Screamed Anna in a breathless tone.
Tracy looked back to hold Anna but she slapped her hands off.
Panting and sweaty, Anna spoke, "You need to call for help Traze, I will slow you down," Searching herself, she opened her eyes in alarm. "I... I... I think I lost my inhaler, it must have..."
Just then, a resounding roar echoed around the forest and shook the floor beneath.
"It is closer, Traze. You have to run, please... Run." Anna spoke with eyes teary.
"Anna, don't give up, we need to do this together, we have gotten this far. Please don't push it on me." Tracy paused to stare at Anna.
"I am sorry Traze, It Is a miracle we got this far. One of us has to move on and call for help. We both know of my health conditions... I won't make it. I love you Sis and await the help you bring in." Kissing Tracy's cheek, Anna ran toward the roar leaving Tracy with no other choice than to run faster to call for help.
The city of Mumblings is known as one of the best on earth. The bustle all around always gives life to the inhabitants. Everything is perfect there except for the recent reoccurring cases of abduction.
In 4 months, ten people have been abducted, and none of them ever came back except Tracy, who came out 3 hours ago with a shattered cloth and blistered body asking for help.
Now, everyone thinks she's the culprit. How could she have managed to escape when the well-abled guys taken can't even save themselves? Something seems fishy and no one is ready to go without knowing what she saw and how she made it back.
With eyes blazing, Tracy hit the table where her hands were placed. How stupid could these people be? To think she, a 15-year-old lass with a petite frame could ever manage to capture people. Still, in her torn clothes, she spoke again in a calm tone to the interrogation officer who kept staring at her like she has two heads.
"Please, my best friend is out there. She sacrificed herself so I can get out. You have to please get ready to pull all the necessary strings to save her and others too... Please, we've wasted a lot of time already."
"We need to be sure of what we are getting to Miss, you have to tell us everything in detail... Including how the place is and the people that abducted you." The interrogation officer said.
With eyes teary, Tracy spoke again, unable to control her feelings. She is exhausted and in need of sleep. She hasn't eaten in days and she knew the only reason she could still talk right now is due to the adrenaline to save her dearest friend, Anna. Oh, Anna... She would be expecting her return. Is she safe? She questioned silently with her eyes up the roof of the interrogation room.
Cleaning her eyes, She went on her knees to beg. "Please, I don't remember the faces of our captors. If they were humans or not, I can't say. All I remember was Anna calling out to me on her cell as we both planned our escape."
"How did you both escape the cell?" Questioned the Officer.
"I told you I use the pin attached to my hair to pick the lock and helped her out too. We didn't see anyone else around us but we could hear screaming. After we left the cell, we tiptoed toward the door which was miraculously unlocked. We opened the door which led to the forest and all we did was run for our lives." She explained.
"Your story sounds suspicious. Why was the door not locked? Unless it is a trap. Why were you allowed to escape in the first place?" Questioned again the Officer.
With her throat parched and her body tired, Tracy lost all energy to argue. She fell and all she mumbled out was "help".
When Tracy blacked out, she was rushed to the hospital where her torn cloth was taken to the forensic department for proper investigation to be carried out on it. Her blood samples and dirt attached to her hair and body were also taken.
After further investigation, it became known that the dirt taken from Tracy was from a plant found in a forest not far from the city.
Police were dispatched to the arena to sweep the area following Tracy's report and the forensic result. The forest was a huge one. After sweeping through the forest for 4 hours, they found blood stains on some paths that lead deeper into the forest. At this point, they decided to ask for backup and more units were sent to aid the search. It took 3 more hours for them to get to an abandoned building that looks like a perfect hideout for kidnappers. The investigation Officer called on the unit on standby as they wait for an order.
Speaking through the mouthpiece, the investigation officer made a gesture, "Unit 1, come with me, unit 2 prepare to standby, unit 3 take the west wing, unit 4 take the East. We need to surround the building. Nodding their heads, each unit went to its assigned position.
The police officers forced their way into the building through the front and rear doors. To their greatest surprise, they saw people who are blindfolded and chained up. The victims were rescued, but the kidnappers were not found. The victims were all taken to the same hospital where Tracy was stationed to get medical attention. While receiving treatment, the investigator tried to get information from each of them. Anything that could help them find the kidnappers, but they couldn't get any tangible information. The investigation officer had no choice but to term Tracy the culprit even though Anna admitted she and Tracy attempted to escape.
Two days later, Tracy regained consciousness in her hospital bed. She was cuffed to the bed with two officers watching over her. With her voice cracky, she asked, "what about Anna?" One of the police officers put a call through and the investigation officer and Anna came in some minutes later.
"Anna... Thank God you are alive, I was scared they won't get to you and the others on time. I am happy to see you." Glaring at the investigation Officer, Tracy continued. "Why am I handcuffed to the bed?" I told you I didn't do it. You rescued them, right? Why not question them all? Besides, Anna was there... You can ask her." Turning to Anna, she spoke again. "Please tell him I didn't do it."
Clearing her throat, Anna spoke, "I told him you didn't do it, but he never believed. I mean, you are too fragile to lift those men. They are worth lots of pounds, and the roar used was from a horror movie. You couldn't have thought about that. Also, the alarm set for the roaring sound to occur is something you know nothing of. It is a pity you are a suspect."
"That is why you are under arrest, Anna." Said the investigation officer. I noticed you were different, you weren't remorseful unlike the others and Tracy was bait to make you blab your way about your intelligence." Added the investigation officer.
Laughing hysterically, Anna spoke, "You aren't as dense as I suppose you to be. It was sad the fun I was having has to end."
"No!" Screamed Tracy, "you couldn't have done it, Anna. Not to me. Never to me. We are best friends, I have known you all my life. I know you are crazy, but never to this point. What happened Anna, please... Please say something." Tracy begged.
"It was just for fun Traze, you don't have to cry your eyes out. It is not like you were that hurt. Maybe you can continue what I started while I am in jail. What do you think? Anna asked.
"You are crazy and I curse the day I met you. Please take her out of my sight. I need to rest and eat. Also, you can take off the cuff." Tracy spoke.
"Take her out." Said the investigation officer to the two officers on standby, pushing Anna to them.
Walking toward Tracy, he removed the cuff and spoke again. "I am sorry you had to go through this and for not working toward your statement when you came. I will ask the doctor to come to check on you and also for food to be brought to your table. Your parents will be here soon. You are free to press charges"
Cleaning off her teary eyes, Tracy turned to the other side of the hospital bed as she held her betrayed heart in agony.

I loved your story @bailikis95, with great suspense I was amazed by the wonderful ending you wrote.
Ana's madness led her to evil and to believe that her friend agreed. Very clever.
Thanks for reading through Pop. I appreciate your presence.
Siempre es grato leer tus historias 😊
Betrayal must be the most agonizing feeling. Especially from a loved one. I pray Tracy has strength to overcome.
It is agonizing. Nothing sting as badly as it does. I hope she does move on.
The feeling of betrayal and let alone, from your best friend?! That's extreme. This would have 🐝 sn absolutely tough pill to swallow.
I guess Tracy won't want to trust anyone again...
Yes, she wouldn't... Who would?
As funny as it sounds, people believe in second chances but it's always very hard.
We are 'people ' and know how hard it can be especially in cases like this.
I agree with that✨.
Do have a great day @balikis95

The suspense was high and I was wondering why Anna would have betrayed Tracy. I am glad the police were able to trick her into exposing herself, I hope Tracy can allow anyone to get too deep with her again after her experience with Anna.

Anna is crazy. We never can tell how crazy a human brain can be. Thanks for stopping by.
Seriously some people are just like that they betray you even though they know that you trust them with your life
But all thanks to the police because if not for them she might get away with everything she did
Yes, she might. May God lead our path of these crazy people.
