Childhood Story of a Cyclist.
Cycling has been a way of life for me since childhood. We had four bicycles at home in different sizes, and I could remember the joy on my face when I first held the handlebar of the bicycle. It was one of the best days of my life, and I couldn't help the sweetness that reached not just my heart but also my soul. And the journey towards learning how to ride was filled with tranquility…or not? Hehe.
Learning how to ride the bicycle resulted in multiple injuries. I remember days I'd fall off my bicycle while trying to meet up with my sister in a race, even knowing I wasn't perfect on it yet. The voice of my mom always rings in the background, reminding me I am a lady and should stop giving myself scars that'd never leave my skin. But did that stop me? Hehe, I was mischievous, so nah! I wait to see mom sleep, then sneak out to have fun with the others.
Day after day, I improved. From being wobble as I ride to being able to ride some kilometers without falling. It was fun. Watching as the breeze blew past you as you moved your legs on the pedals made life fun. Giggles fill the air, and fear is lost. It was always intoxicating. An intoxication that keeps my insane mind filled with every ounce of sanity.
And that wasn't all. No, I started doing some stunts on it, and that ended in more injuries and more words from my mom on being a lady. But that didn't stop me. I knew deeply I could do it if others were having fun doing it. And so I never gave up and learned more stunts and gave them a trial and became a pro.
Then came competition with our bicycles. It was a more exhilarating moment for me. Meeting other cyclists other than my family members to race added more life to my childhood memories of riding a bicycle. And I did my best in showing off my stunts. The part I love most is the one where I take my hands off the bicycle handlebar and only move my legs on the pedal. Another one I love is the one that deals with one leg on the bicycle pedal while my body is on one side as I push forward while holding the bicycle handlebar.
I made lots of friends, and we did have fun moving our legs on the bicycle pedal to have fun every day that it became a routine. We knew when to come around but never when to leave until our parents reminded us there's a place called home. Hehe. Though it has been some years since I last rode a bicycle due to movement from one place to another, I can't wait to get my hands on a bicycle the moment I am fully settled because my childhood memories of owning and riding a bicycle are still fresh in my memory like a movie.

Thanks for reading.
Peace be unto those who crave it and more to those who chase it away.
At first it's difficult to ride a bike, I also used to fall a lot, then I invented like you doing acrobatics, but not anymore, I just enjoy the road and the landscape, it's a pleasant experience 😉
Learning how to ride a bicycle can be hard, but once you have learned how to ride a bicycle, you'll never forget it. Even when you don't ride a bicycle for years, you'll pick it up instantly again.
Haha, yes. It is always difficult to ride it and then the falling 😂😂. Wow, that's nice. I don't think I can do the acrobatics anymore. I'll just stick to riding. Hehe
Thank you. Happy Easter

Cycling is really fun especially as kids because it is ridden with reckless abandon.
You even tried stunts, wow I didn't dare do that cos I was afraid of losing a tooth.
Hehe, you are right. As kids, that gut to do something dangerous is always present. Hehe
When you get addicted to something, fear boxes the least of your worries.
Of course 😁
My cousin taught me how to ride a bicycle when I spent the holidays with them during my junior secondary school days. One time, when we traveled to the village for my grandma's burial, I borrowed a relative's old rickety bicycle to run an errand. Even though my mom warned me about the potential danger, I paid no heed. On my way back, I was speeding, chasing a car when I hit a stone and fell, sustaining injuries on my body. Luckily, I wasn't crushed by the vehicle. Cycling is fun, especially on a good road, but it's important to take safety measures.
Such bittersweet experience you had toward cycling. You are right. Taking a safety measure is necessary. Thank goodness you were not wounded.
