The New Athos Simon-Kananitsky Monastery (Abkh. Atsҳarazhәҳәaҩ Simon Kanatәi Iberҭyԥ Afon Ҿyts Aҟny) is a monastery located at the foot of Mount Athos in Abkhazia. Founded in 1875 by the monks of the Russian monastery of St. Panteleimon from Mount Athos (Greece) (Patriarchate of Constantinople) with the participation of the Russian Emperor Alexander III. Closed in 1924, returned to believers in 1994. On February 11, 2011, the government of Abkhazia handed over the monastery to the Abkhaz Orthodox Church. Since May 15, 2011, the monastery has actually been the chair of the non-canonical “Holy Metropolis of Abkhazia”.

Ново-Афонский Симоно-Кананитский монастырь (абх. Ацҳаражәҳәаҩ Симон Канатәи иберҭыԥ Афон Ҿыц аҟны) — мужской монастырь, расположенный у подножия Афонской горы в Абхазии. Основан в 1875 году монахами русского монастыря святого Пантелеимона со Афона (Греция) (Константинопольского Патриархата) при участии российского императора Александра III. Закрыт в 1924 году, возвращён верующим в 1994 году. 11 февраля 2011 года правительство Абхазии передало монастырь Абхазской православной церкви. С 15 мая 2011 года монастырь фактически является кафедрой неканонической «Священной Митрополии Абхазии».

Visiting New Athos, this monastery cannot be ignored. He gave the modern name to this place. It was very difficult to build it here. I had to remove part of the rock and take away the debris. And then there were practically no roads. We will not immediately go inside the main temple. Let's move a little to the edge of the site in order to better feel this place and the enormous work that was done during the construction.

Посетив Новый Афон, нельзя обойти вниманием этот монстырь. Он дал современное название этому месту. Очень непросто было его здесь возвести. Пришлось убирать часть скалы и увозить обломки. А дорог тогда практически не было. Мы сейчас не сразу зайдём внутрь главного храма. Немного отойдём на край площадки, чтобы лучше почувствовать это место и тот огромный труд, который был проделан при строительстве.

Behind this edge begins a wild mountain slope, and below is the town itself (by the standards of Russia, not the largest village). Feel this height. More building materials had to be brought up here.

За этим краем начинается дикий горный склон, а внизу расположен сам городишко (по меркам России не самое крупное село). Почувствуйте эту высоту. Сюда надо было поднять ещё строительные материалы.
Слева море, справа горы, а посередине я, гордый монастырь.

Not a very successful attempt to take a panorama in automatic mode. Now I would just take a sequence of normal frames (maybe even vertical ones) and stitch them into Lightroom.

Не очень удачная попытка снять панораму в автоматическом режиме. Сейчас я бы просто сделал последовательность нормальных кадров (может быть даже вертикальных) и сшил бы их в Лайтрум.

Now imagine yourself as that girl in the headscarf in the middle of the hall. Take your time, imagine yourself in her place. You are calm, thoughts are gradually leaving you, ... the head is clear, light, ... breathing is even, slow, calm.
Feel this peace. And now slowly lift your head up. Enjoy ...

Теперь представьте себя той девушкой в платке посередине зала. Не торопитесь, представьте себя на её месте. Вы спокойны, мысли постепенно уходят от вас, ...голова чистая, лёгкая, ...дыхание ровное, медленное, спокойное.
Почувствуйте этот покой. И теперь медленно поднимите голову кверху. Наслаждайтесь...

If you were in no hurry and managed to relieve tension, I congratulate you. In fact, when processing photographs, I developed a little color and added light. You have to visit this place yourself in order to feel it. It's time for us to get out.

Если вы не спешили и сумели снять напряжение, я вас поздравляю. На самом деле при обработке фотграфий я немного проявил цвета и добавил света. В этом месте надо побывать самому, чтобы его почувствовать. А нам пора выходить.

The monastery is a whole complex of beautiful old buildings. Not all places can be entered, this is a functioning monastery, but it is free for tourists to visit. A monk or just a serviceman (in the last photo on the left) makes sure that women are covered with their heads and in skirts (all this is issued at the entrance), and men should not be in shorts and T-shirts. Otherwise, there are no restrictions.

Монастырь это целый комплекс красивых старых зданий. Не во все места можно пройти, это действующий монастырь, но он свободен для посещения туристов. Монах или просто служивый человек (на последнем фото слева) следит, чтобы женщины были с покрытыми головами и в юбках (всё это выдаётся при входе), а мужчины не должны быть в шортах и майках. В остальном никаких ограничений нет.

The monastery is, of course, beautiful, it is worth visiting, but I am a man of nature. Her beauty is more important to me than the most expensive and exquisite walls and ceilings. What is one simple eucalyptus worth!
And on the next walk we will go to nature.

Монастырь, конечно, красив, стоит его посетить, но я человек природы. Её красота для меня важнее самых дорогих и изысканных стен и потолков. Чего стоит один простой эвкалипт!
И в следующую прогулку мы отправимся неприменно на природу.
