Night aftertaste of the holiday (24 photos)
For some time now the Wednesdays for me is the time of walks. But to make a post on Wednesday, you have to walk with the camera at least on Tuesday. So I did yesterday.
I finally got to the very center of St. Petersburg. The New Year is already over, but in Russia there is a tradition to celebrate the second New Year according to the old calendar. Today is just such a day.
The main New Year tree of the city was installed on Palace Square and a festive zone was organized next to it. But we will get to it at the end of the post, but for now we will begin our Walk on Wednesdays.
We will slowly walk counterclockwise along the walls of the Winter Palace and look back at the square and the Christmas tree.
Of course, it's hard not to notice the Pillar of Alexandria. True, it is not the central point of the city. Such a point can be considered the projection of the spire of the building of the Main Admiralty. In the last picture you can see this spire in the distance at the end of a row of buildings (Winter Palace and Admiralty).
I tried to make a panorama of the entire square standing with my back to Millionnaya Street.
And here is the Millionnaya street itself. The building of the Winter Palace continues to the left, and the famous Atlantes are visible almost in the center of the frame. But we didn't get to them this time. We went in the opposite direction.
We were lucky with the weather. It was about -10C and there was almost no wind. At the same time, there were not a large number of people, as happens on holidays. In general, it was calm and pleasant.
The rest is difficult to describe in words, but everything is clear there.
It's time to get closer to the holiday zone. Its center was certainly a real Christmas tree brought from the forest and dressed up with toys and garlands of lights.
Here is organized ... a frame for a photo. You can go inside and your friend will make you a New Year's card with one click of the camera. It's almost like a photo studio with lights ... outdoors against the backdrop of a Christmas tree.
It is very good that at this moment there were few people. I can imagine what happened here on the New Year itself. But it certainly was fun.
From here we went to Nevsky Prospekt. Of course, I took a lot of pictures. But that's another storys for another posts. The main thing is that I had a tripod with me.

I love your tour of the square, the arches are so cool and the tree beautiful, thats a cool idea witht he setup with lights for people to take photos
Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :), I truly enjoy exploring the world virtually each Wednesday seeing walks from all around the globe and feeling I am there and experiencing it all myself, such as I did in your post just now :)
I haven't been out in the city center for a long time. There are many beautiful places and there is always something you can shoot with a camera.
Last year and this year had the most beautiful Christmas trees I have ever seen. I think that this is a rather complicated operation - to bring such a spruce from the forest and install it on the square.
I also liked the idea with the frame, but I did not use this frame :)

Sorry, out of BEER, please retry later...
I can only imagine its such an undertaking to setup those huge trees in places I like that I remember once I saw the tree in Rockefeller plaza being lifted off a truck with a huge crane
Of course, I didn’t see it, but I think that there was also a huge crane here :)
I would say there must have been it’s a big tree
