[Shadow Hunters Contest & MONOMAD] - Night hunting
If there are no shadows during the day, then we will look for them at night. Each lantern is a source of light, which means it generates shadows. There are many lanterns in the city at night. But when they are chaotically located, the shadows can be ... none. Simply expressionless. So you need to find places where the light sources are located on some side of something.
Если тени отсутствуют днём, то будем искать их ночью. Каждый фонарь является источником света, а значит порождает и тени. Ночью в городе много фонарей. Но когда онри расположены хаотично, тени могут оказаться ...никакими. Просто невыразительными. Значит надо найти такие места, где источники света расположены на какой-то стороне чего-то.
The Moika embankment in St. Petersburg (Russia) is like nothing else suitable for hunting in the shade. Guess why. That's right, all light sources are located on the shore behind the embankment.

Sometimes the shadows overlap. I could have looked for interesting overlays, but we were already in a hurry home. The frost was below -13 degrees and we froze ... quite a bit :)
Иногда тени накладываются друг на друга. Я бы мог поискать интересные наложения, но мы уже спешили домой. Мороз был ниже -13 градусов и мы замёрзли...совсем чуть-чуть :)
Under the bridge, in addition to shadows, it was possible to catch even a reflection.
Под мостом кроме теней удалось поймать даже отражение.
At this time of day, the city is more suitable for bw photography. In any case, monochrome.
В это время суток город больше подходит для чб фотографии. Во всяком случае монохром.
It so happened that I myself was the main hero of most of the shots. Maybe that's good. When else do you take a night selfie :)
Так получилось, что основным героем большинства кадров оказался я сам. Может это и хорошо. Когда ещё сделаешь ночное селфи :)

Misusing the #monomad tag and posting it in other communities and not in the black and white will only create confusion among users.
People already tend not to read any rules, and if they see a high reputation user as yourself doing something in a certain way, they will most likely think that's "the right way" to do it too.
We do know you meant no harm and didn't do it with any ill intention though 🙂

It so happened that when hunting for shadows, the pictures turned out to be almost monochrome. Having discovered this fact ... I put your tag ... now I understand that I did it in vain. Excuse me.

That night I filmed for this very competition @annephilbrick. If I had not remembered about him, I would have just run past. By that time we were frozen and hurried home :-D
I sometimes wish I lived near a city and could spend some nights out shadow hunting @bambuka .
Your shadows have a great mysterious and cold Winter night feeling to them.
Most important you remembered your hero. A great and faithful shadow hunting companion to have.

Yes, the city has many lanterns and many shadows.
But there are also many of them in nature ... especially on a full moon :D
From the netherlands the love is accepted and how i would love to come and visit and shadow hunt with you. It must be so cold at your end i see the ice, and i love the bridge picture. Well done on the entry

I love frost, but we rarely have it. We need to arrange an exchange of frost for snow and everyone will win :)

For us, frosts are common and even desirable. This has its advantages. I love winter, but only for snow, frost and sun :)
And the night shadow hunting is very interesting, thanks for this initiative.
Good hunting. I liked the presentation and content. Very cold but it was worth it. I like the juxtaposition of the leftovers because there is more art and in your photos they look defined.
