A little baguio tour (Day 3)

avatar

My momentum for this 3 day travel series really did get interupted with the little lab accident last friday. I'm still not over the accident and I don't really know if they've already replaced the HF tubing with an HDPE (high density polyethelyne) tubing, but I'm not going to do any 4 acid digestion until that thing is replaced.

Anyways, back to the good vibes. I was actually debating on whether to even add this last day of the travel becuase it was mostly just souvenir shopping XD more street food hunting then fog. Lots of fog that we barely got to take any more good pictures. I kind of missed the chance to play with the fog more since everyone was in a rush to get home, especially the kids that went on the trip too. They don't understand the vakue of being able to travel yet, I swear. They kept throwing tantrums left and right and kept whining that they already wanted to go home despite the fact that the parents kept repeating that we'll be headed home soon.

This is the foggy morning I woke up to. Like I wasn't supposed to wake up at 6:30 am that day because I still count it as a precious rest day, but when the bff woke up to fog in the room, she shook me awake and told me to get dressed so we can go for a morning walk and enjoy the fog, and maybe go coffee hunting. We never found any coffee places near the inn we were staying in, but I did see my breath condense again, and the cold really woke me up because I was shaking so much.

Fast forward to around 9am, we left the inn and proceeded to some places so everyone can buy souvenirs. I forgot the names of some of these places because I was still fixated on getting some coffee in my system. But still, the place we went too was overwhelming.

Here's me in an attempt to be a brand ambassador XD or at least me being forced by the bff to show the products while she took pics and vids of me XD

This was at a place near the inn. Like it was a whole tunnel of just souvenirs, hand crafted stuff, shirts, sweets, just a little bit of everything baguio is known for. I do think the stores near mine's peak park had more sweets and was a bit cheaper compared to here, but this place had more than just sweets so I actually understood why they brought us here for the souvenirs. I actually went and got myself a small pocket knife for self defense purposes. I mean, I know they keep getting confiscated whenever I ride the train systems here... but still, having a knife on my body eases my anxiety a bit, especially when I go home at night.

Everyone finished buying around noon or so and we had lunch there since me and the bff were requesting really good soup since we don't see much soup places in bagiou despite the climate there being perfect for warm soup everyday. In response to our request though, they brought us to this really good bulalo place. They also served other local food like pigar pigar and dinakdakan, and they were all sooooo goooddddd and I kind of forgot to take photos of the food cuz me and the bff basically inhaled the food in one sitting.

After lunch, we then off to the vegetable market. And I wanted to just stay in baguio forever because the vegetables were all so cheap ;;-;;
Compared to city prices... gosh all the veggies was basically 50% off for me there, and everything was freshly harvested ;;-;;

What really caught my attention though were the mushrooms. I love mushrooms and I think I blew around $20 on just mushrooms while my remaining $30 went to vegetables we use at home then coffee.

I think I failed to mention how caffeine dependent I am, and the coffee beans we usually buy come from baguio. To be specific, we love the flavored beans from this place and also the sagada local coffee because it really has this good nutty taste to it that's very similar to hazalnut flavored coffee. So yeah, I blew around $2 just for coffee... but that's going to last me a good 6 months or so because I really wen't overboard on the coffee beans and brought home maybe 4kgs of Mocha beans, Sagada medium roast, Bailey's irish cream flavored beans and Benguet beans because sometimes I'm in the mood for strong flavors (especially when my workload is crazy, so yeah. My sisters were pretty happy with the coffee stash we now have. I kpet them in an airtight container so they don't absorb moisture and they can retain their oil.

I am definitely coming back to this place for more coffee beans when we visit baguio again by june. My mom wanted to try going to baguio once so we said we'd save up for it so all 4 of us can go. Though the trip we'll be going to is actually sagada (further up north from baguio), but it does have a halfday baguio side tour for souvenir shopping too

This is it for my baguio adventure. I shall return to drawing and the sciences on my next blogs UwU
Thank you for reading, guys!
