at first glance, i thought it was a she 😳😳 i think you could add lips but make the shade darker and like focus on the lip dhadow instead of the actual lips since men tend to have more pronounced features except the lips. those are always dry af

I made the lips on low opacity because last time I did it I didn't like the result xd. It's either this or no lips. Lines will do just fine. I usually add more details and shadows on lips but it's anime style here so the detailed style would be inconsistent on his face. That's just my opinion haha
that's true. it's a lot trickier when it comes to classic animation style so you have a good point there. we both have such different takes on the lips idea... but maybe just line next time 🥲
