Hey guys what's up? Yesterday, I spent half of my day walked around 7kms with my friend from Camella, Perrelos to Carcar Public Market as I have not been doing heavy exercise since I started working from home. I used to run and bike almost every weekend when I worked and lived in the city (Cebu) until I moved to Carcar. But yesterday despite the rain, I moved my feet and pushed myself for a heavy cardio workout.

Our starting point which is the main entrance of the subdivision

I was hesitant at first as I have not been doing some long-distance running or walking for the past couple of months and 7 kms is not that short to walk under the rain. But because of my recent diagnosis of being hypertensive I do not have a choice but to really live a healthy lifestyle hence the decision.

Basically our route from point x to point x lol. Screenshot from google maps

Perrelos

Perrelos is the barangay where our subdivision is located and has upper and lower parts with hilly terrain and a grassy plain in the middle. In fact, some residents are raising cattle and goats to take advantage of its abundance. I am referring about the grasses tho.

As you can see, there are several sightings of these animals on the street and some in the middle of the plain. It is a refreshing take from your daily dose of traffic and tall buildings. As we walk further, you will see long stretched of bungalow houses adorned with thorny bougainvillea's with make-shift stores and cafeterias serving the neighborhood small portions of food at a very affordable price.

Then we were greeted by a cool breeze of soft wind and drizzling rain as we approached a quiet area devoid of people and houses. The street is lined with hardwood trees and barbwires. Quite eerie and frightening due to some recent reporting of robbery on the roadside. But there is no other way to go but to move further.

Sitio Kamagayan

It was a sigh of relief when I saw a bird from a distance lol and a hint of houses. We were entering Sitio Kamagayan - a part of Brgy Perrelos. There were several alleyways leading to the forest which I was tempted to explore but decided not to and keep on moving hoping for a sign of the main road.

Bryg Valladolid

After a couple of minutes, we reached the highway and kept our pace at a slow rate to give ourselves room to breathe.

We gave up and decided to take a ride but there was no available public transport so we kept walking until we reached a bridge and had some rest. It is called Valladolid Bridge apparently as it is part of Brgy Valladolid.

The City Center

We reached the city center at around 4pm and withdrew some cash at the nearest ATM machine prior to going to the public market. In front of the city hall is a swampy area with foresty vegetation.

Just beside it, is a food park with a selection of local delicacies from grilled meat, BBQs, roasted chicken, lechon, and whatnot. And because we were starving, we did not pass on the opportunity to try them. Although I do not find the tenants as hygienic or if they are following some food safety protocols but who cares? I was hungry lol.

After we had our lunch/dinner, we then proceed to the main market to buy local produce and anything in between. There were plenty of options to choose from and it was so affordable. This will probably be my weekend routing moving forward except the 7kms walking lol.

So, what was supposed to be a heavy cardio workout - turned out to be a weekend experience to remember. And the food practically replaces the lost calories we have from walking lol. But of course, always take extra caution as you do not always know what lies ahead in those quiet roads and empty spaces.

Thank you for reading. I was not expecting you to reach this far lol. How was your weekend? Share it in the comment below.

Wow that's an adventure!

At first I thought I wouldn't even try it, then when I saw the food I said "it's worth it", then you said you didn't see much hygiene and I said "ay no" hahaha.

You have been very brave to walk so far, I don't think I would have done even half of it, although the health is worth the effort but it was a long time walking.

The beautiful landscapes make up for it? I don't know hahaha I'm very lazy but at least you had a great time and nothing bad happened.

Yea the scenery made it more manageable but over all it was exhausting haha. But glad I did because it was an issue of the will and i kinda like achieved something of disciplining myself into working my butt off than just sitting watching netflix.

I remember taking a detour via the Valladolid road with my motorcycle. I got lost and ended up having to cross a river. 😅

People are not aware of how good walking can be for our health. I used to enjoy walking long distances during the early times of the pandemic because there was no local transport. But I've come back to always wanting to take a ride or drive even when the destination is quite near. 😂

Keep up the healthy activities! 😁
