Why Should I Buy a Profile Picture I Don't Really Use? CryptoPunks

I'd like to add this post as 100% for Hive Power, but it doesn't seem to be working on the @LeoFinance front-end.

NFTs, or Non-Fungible Tokens. Remember that time when NFTs in profile pictures were the center of attention? It seems like yesterday, but things have changed, and I'll tell you why. In the beginning, the idea of having a digital profile picture as an NFT seemed incredible. It was a way of showing your individuality, your identity on the internet. It was like having a unique piece of digital art, and that had a special charm. I think the buyers and users of CryptoPunks can say that more than anyone. But honestly, over time, I began to ask myself: what's the real point of it?

Of course, you could say that it's a way of supporting digital artists and content creators, which is great, and I'm all for that. But apart from displaying the image, what's the real value? Does having a unique profile picture really make a difference to my online life? I've started to doubt that. In the recent past, I've even considered buying an affordable piece of CryptoPunks, or simply Punks, but my morality wouldn't allow me to spend Ethereum on it.

So where is my interest in NFTs now?

Well, I'm a big fan of NFTs that actually have practical, non-cosmetic utility. I'm talking about NFTs that you can use in Play2Earn games, that play an important role in Yield Farming collections and bring tangible benefits to the owner like in Web 3 protocols. Imagine having a legendary sword in a game, which is an NFT that will benefit you with interesting attributes, you can use it to dominate your opponents or even sell it to another player. Or a surprise box in the form of an NFT in some Web 3 project, perhaps LeoFinance, that benefits you with curator votes, or participation advantages. That makes sense, right? Or having NFTs that give you special rights in a community or project? Now that's something I really see value in.

So while I still enjoy the world of NFTs, my attention is now focused on those that have a real purpose, those that can give me incredible experiences or concrete advantages. So the next time you think about buying an NFT, ask yourself:

"What does this really do for me?"

I know I'm doing it.
