Rundfjellet - Lofoten islands, Norway

Rundfjellet is one of the most beautiful trip in Lofoten islands.

I have been in Norway last week.
Ski mountaineering and aurora borealis hunting.

We had luck with the weather and the snow! Not only good weather permitted us to reach and watch beautiful landscape, with a strong contrast between the white of the snow and the blue of ocean, but we could also view Aurora Borealis!

This wonderful trip starts near Svolaer, after Hammerstadsgate Camping. There is a place where to park the car, you need to cross a bridge on Vatterfjordpollen, and you walk along a lake.
After a few kilometers, path starts to go up (some steep passages in a thin wood, but no problem except if there is ice).

Landscape begins to be unusual and majestic!

We reached a soft and wide valley, under the summit:

After another short steep slope, we reach a beautiful ridge!

And landscape starts to change, showing us the typical rocky peak over Svolvaer, and the stunning endless summits of Lofoten islands!

After the long ridge....

...we reached the summit, easy to climb (I used crampons but there is no danger if snow is good).

I love the warm and red color of the faraway clouds (over open ocean) against the blue of water and snow (I have used a polarizing filter to increase the deep of colors).

Finally, the view from the summit!

And the way down... I could not enjoyed the descent because of some problems at the ski, but it didn't matter, my eyes were and are full of an huge and peaceful beauty!

Here the place on google maps (images by Google):

Pictures taken with Sony Alpha 7iii and Nikon D800 (heavy to take two cameras on the bag).
