Souls migration

Some days ago I have tried to paint using acrylic colors.

It was first time I use this technique. I just have tried watercolors, by the way for me to paint is a new activity, I have tried because of some friends of mine has given to me some colors and brushes.
To be honest, I want learn to paint because of I'm dreaming a lot (during sleep) and sometimes I see amazing images and unique visions. The most of time, in dreams, I try to take pictures but something wrong happens every time (camera broken, settings very complex, or simply I can't find my camera), so I feel very frustrating during sleep and also after wake up, because of those visions are lost forever, closed only in my mind. So I have thought: why not try to learn painting and make 'real' the visions I see in dream??

So, helped by friends, I've taken brushes and I've started to paint from sketch I drew some months ago, during a bored day at work.

This is the final painting. I have chosen as title 'Souls migration' (similar to movie 'Soul' by Pixar). Each balloon is like a soul (happy, angry, surprised, sad, indifferent...) going towards mountains and a violet/blue peaceful sky at night, plenty of stars. Hot air balloons seems to pull summit towards the sky. All souls are spontaneously going to merge with the entire universe, becoming an unique thing.

This is the sketch from which I started. Initially I have thought to African and Asian migrants who are trying to pass the mountain border between Italy and France, migrants who are looking for freedom and a new place to live. From the hole on the right you can watch beyond the mountain the world they dream. In the painting I have chosen to draw a spiral instead of an hole, like a metaphor to the search for a 'center'. Migrants were worry about the long and dangerous path to go through, and I imagined them like balloons (light and fragile), becoming trees, becoming a walking wood, a unique thing with nature and universe.
On the sketch, you can read also 'I migranti di Ganden'. It is a second meaning I have thought about my painting. It refers to a song by Franco Battiato (Torneremo ancora - We'll come back again). In Ganden monastery (Tibet) many monks escaped in the 60s, after Chinese invasion, to reach freedom outside Tibet. As Battiato sings, Ganden monks followed invisible planet, in body made of light...

Here acrylic colors and brushes, with some other sketches, I will try to paint them next time.

I hope you like it.
I accept criticisms and advices! :-)
Maybe it will be my new passion!
May 2023.

This painting looks so beautiful and amazing. It takes a lot of effort to make such things especially the combination of colors you have given looks very beautiful.
