Have you ever eaten this snack? Or have you ever heard the word Batagor? Batagor is a snack that is widely spread and sold in Indonesia. Little did I know, Batagor is a typical snack from Bandung, Indonesia. As a child, I was told that Batagor stands for "Bakso Tahu Goreng" which means fried tofu meatballs. Batagor is a dough made of mashed tofu mixed with fish or shrimp. The fish used is usually mackerel which has a salty and savory taste. Then it is fried with a round shape like a ball. Not only that, Batagor is served with Siomay and fried dumplings. Siomay is balls made of boiled tapioca flour. Siomay is almost similar to meatballs. The difference is that the texture and meat content is usually less than meatballs, making Siomay more tender and chewy.

Today I bought a pack of Batagor when I went out to withdraw money at the ATM near my boarding house. This Batagor seller hangs out around the ATM area every day. Every time I withdraw money at the ATM, this Batagor seller is already there. By the way, I didn't take a photo of where he was selling because there were too many people around, and I couldn't do it. LOL. One of the nice things about buying street food, you can order at a friendly price. Since I only have IDR 8000 ($0,56) in my wallet, I can buy it at that price and get a pack of Batagor.

Long story short, I brought home a pack of Batagor for me to enjoy. Of course, what I want to enjoy the most is the very delicious peanut sauce. The combination of savory, sweet and spicy in one mouthful is addictive. I even thought about buying another unmixed sauce. Haha. Previously, I apologized to my face for giving fertilizer to plant acne after eating this peanut sauce. For spicy and sweet can be adjusted by adding chili sauce and soy sauce into it. I can't eat too spicy food myself, so I asked to put a little sauce in it.

for a complete package, usually there are vegetables in it. Such as rounded cabbage and potatoes. Or usually there is an additional boiled egg. Because I only bought the standard package, this is what I got.

Siomay (Small Ball)Batagor (Bigger Ball)Fried Dumplings

The best time to eat this Batagor is while it is still warm. Because if it's cold, the fries inside will harden. Likewise with the fried dumplings. If you don't eat them right away, they will become mushy.

When I was little, I used to eat Batagor by punching holes in the end of the plastic without transferring it to the container. That way, there will be no sauce left when the Batagor runs out.

If I have free time, I will buy some street foods that are no less interesting than this Batagor.

Thank you for reading my blog. Hope to see you in my next post. Stay safe and keep healthy.
