My Life ..

While maybe not the most interesting one, in the light of day, it is truly a spectacular one to me. Why you ask? Because I am blessed with a beautiful and intelligent wife that loves me for me, and two tiny and lovable fur babies Molly and Pepper. We love to spend all the time we can with each other, not knowing when it will be our last. My wife and I met a long time ago just before she started her freshman year of high school. We are still together, and happily married for almost 20 years, despite how much change occurred between that time and now. We are still learning new things about one another and continuing to improve and build upon our relationship. I Love her and those silly dogs to the ends of the world and back!

It's never an uncommon sight to find us in or around a bar, brewery or winery!

If we can, we take the pups where ever we go. If not, we simply can not wait to see them waiting at the door for our return :-)

Boots and Flip-Flops! I would say we are the PERFECT match!

My (our) Dogs!! ..

Something you may or may not know about me.. and I give you fair warning! I LOVE to take photo's of my Molly and Pepper. Molly is our 11 year old shih tzu with severe allergy issues and a disease called Addison's Disease. We love her and give her what ever care we can possibly afford her. We could have bought a decent car with the amount spent on her, but wouldn't have it any other way. Pepper is our 14 year old shih tzu with no problems to speak of except for his sometimes annoying yet cute tendency to be inquisitive. I have taken a ton of pictures over the years.. here are just a few lumped all together for your enjoyment!

My Houseplant Life ..

Over the last several, several years, my appreciation for houseplants has been a roller coaster of a trip. For the last few years, I have been trying to pay more attention to them and reignite the passion I once felt toward them. Lately I have been posting about orchids and the such. You may have read a few of those posts. I have most of them tucked into a sunny corner of our kitchen/breakfast nook area or on the ledge right above. They seem to love that area due to its ample sun and warmness. We'll just have to wait and see how long this new found appreciation last’s.. now won't we.

It doesn't end there, we also keep a small garden in our back yard. On the weekend or evenings you may find us out there picking the vegetables or weeding out the unwanted plants. Molly and Pepper take part in the work... (cough cough) okay, maybe not so much. They are good at watching me work and taking part in the spoils! They love eating the strawberries!! Molly is afraid of almost all of the things in and around the garden, but will occasionally follow her brother into the strawberry patch for a quick hand out.

My Art ..

Lastly but not the end of my story by any means (you'll just have to tune in to my blog to learn more), is art. Art is a pretty big part of my life. I think this quote by no one other than me, sums it up nicely..

My art work incorporates a wide variety of subject matter, including landscape, seascape, cityscape, and still life images. My works are the product of a continuing process of exploration through which I seek to portray personal and visionary interpretations of my surroundings. My paintings are impressions of places and events from everyday life, an interpretation of my imagination, and personal responses to what I see and feel on a daily basis. More recently I have invested generous amounts of time into my landscape painting. I am surrounded by natural and man made beauty, which inherently presents itself in the tri-state area, and almost demands that I paint it.

Not everything is art. Art is not everything, but it comes close. Art is everywhere and all the time. Art makes you experience the beauty of the world, the people in it, and the places we call home. Art itself is so influential that it can tell stories, show feelings, and express passion or fury. Art exists in addition to language; expression of sensations and thoughts, revealing a way of thinking too subtle and delicate for words.

For me art requires love, honesty and perseverance. In return, it reveals some personal, non-analyzable, and creative untamed passion. For the public, art with its magnificent beauty, improves mood and health and builds better human beings and communities. It engages the intellect, softens the heart, strengthens the soul and frees the spirit.

My wife is the largest reason for my renewed interest in the arts. She took it upon herself to gift me a Bob Ross starter oil painting set with canvases. There was no looking back from that point! Self taught and still learning, I consider myself a step below an armature painter, but the passion is real. When I retire (if I ever retire) maybe I can become more than a hobby artist. If your interested, my blog has quite a few posts about my art pieces. It may be worth a look! Who know's, you may find something interesting and it may bring a smile to your face. :-)

Here are a few examples of my work..

As You Can See ..

My art incorporates a lot of different styles and mediums. I am having fun figuring them all out, if you couldn't tell :-) I can't wait to see where my hand and the brush leads me next! My imagination is the limit and inspiration surrounds me.

There Is So Much More To Say About Me ..

But I will save it for my blog, my posts, my Hive. Remember that you have a voice too and it IS worth hearing!!

Check out HIVE and start telling your story!!

Thank you for your precious time and I hope to see you around :-)

Have A Great Day or Night my fellow Hivesters!!

Awesome introduction! We've chatted before and I knew some of this about you, but was great to see it all in a post. Fantastic!

I love the artwork, too. I admire people that can put onto paper, canvas, and the ilk what is in their head in an interpretive manner. Very nice. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Victor! Sometimes I surprise myself with what I can create, then there are those days when it all seems pointless. I am glad there are less of those days 😄

Wonderful post, @bdmillergallery. You really are talented! I'm amazed by the really dark picture of the glass with some kind of bottle of liquor next to it. Great technique!

And I had to requote your self-quote:

Not everything is art. Art is not everything, but it comes close. Art is everywhere and all the time.

Love that. Art is all everywhere and all the time - as if we might make the mistake of thinking art comes and goes with the hour of the day, but no silly, it's all the time.

Amen to that! 😁 Thanks for reading my spat of terrible writing too! I like to find the 'Art' in everything. It's there, we just have to open our mind and eyes to it.

Yes, that is an oil painting of a glass of whiskey next to a whiskey bottle. I had a great time painting that one and even surprised myself on how well it came out. I didn't know I could do that! 😊
