Unknown Now But Will Be Unforgettable

Last month, Tobi Amusan, a Nigerian track and field athlete won the gold medal at the World Athletics Championship. Mass and social media went buzzing with reports of her exploits. Nigerians who were disappointed by the inability of the nations Men's Football team to qualify for the FIFA World Cup tournament received the news of Amusan's victory with great excitement. Nigeria has not been performing well in the sports scene for quite some time. Amusan's win at the athletics championship changed the status quo and made Nigerians who are generally sports enthusiasts proud. Her achievement was a breath of fresh air for Nigerian sports.

জালাল উদ্দীনের সংসার!

পত্রিকার ভাজ খুলে "আবারও বাড়লো জ্বালানি তেলের দাম" শীর্ষক শিরোনাম দেখে নিজের কপালেই ভাজ পড়ল জালাল উদ্দিনের। পুরো প্রতিবেদন পড়ার আর ইচ্ছে হল না আর৷ দ্রব্য মূল্যের লাগামহীন উর্ধ্বগতিতে এমনিতেই দিশেহারা জালাল উদ্দিন। এবার যেন কফিনে শেষ পেরেক ঠুকে দেয়া হল। এই কফিন থেকে বের হওয়ার উপায় আছে কি আর? মনে মনে সরকারকে এক হাত দেখে নিয়ে পত্রিকাটা কোলে রেখে চায়ের কাপ হাতে নিলেন তিনি। চায়ে চুমুক দিতেই মুখটা কুচকে উঠলো। এমন বিস্বাদ চা এর আগে কখনোও খেয়েছেন বলে মনে পড়ল না। ইচ্ছে হচ্ছিল রাগের মাথায় চায়ের কাপটা ছুড়ে ফেলে দিতে৷ কিন্তু অনেক কষ্টে রাগ সামলিয়ে নিলেন তিনি। মধ্যবিত্ত বাঙ্গালীদের এই এক সুবিধা৷ শত কষ্ট হলেও রাগ চেপে যেতে পারে তারা৷

Could Have Been Better

We all do have some untold stories, lines that carry heavy weights, and always a feeling that things could have been a little different. We just move on saying, "Whatever happens, happens for the good." Easy to say, hard to accept.

-We are going there next Friday.
-No, I can't make it for Friday.
-Then when?
-I don't know, don't question me again and again.

Actually, there was a plan, for a long time, to go somewhere specific that I was postponing for an unknown reason which I didn't share nor was able to do so. In the last conversation, I had gone hyper and made things worse enough to cut off our communication. Just because of a tiny dispute we lost communication, as it is told, distance creates distance, both physically and mentally, same shit here. And this gap in our communication did the ultimate damage to paving our own ways. My short - temper and anger had the first hit and then this gap blessed us with the rest.
