Today, I will be sharing my amazing Fermented African oil Bean seed sauce, in combination with boiled yam. Read along to see the simple and easy steps.
INGREDIENTS
- yam
- salt
- palm oil
- utazi
- fresh pepper
- fermented oil bean seed
- onion
- black pepper
PREPARATION
First I peeled my yam, I prefer the circular motion cutting, washed it properly to ensure there is no sand, and then placed in a pot.
I added enough water, and salt.
- I added my diced onion. Why onion? Well, it’s my own recipe 😂. I love the taste I usually get when I boil my yam using salt and onion.
- let’s prepare our sauce for the yam. To start, I poured my palm oil into a clean dry pan and placed it on fire.
- I added my diced onions into the frying oil.
I added my fresh pepper
I added my black pepper
I added my fermented oil bean seed that has being shredded into tiny pieces.
- I added my salt to taste, and some seasoning
- I added my Utazi leaf and allowed it to cook for like 5mins. Utazi leaf is a popular leaf in Africa especially eastern part of Nigeria. It is a leaf that is very Bitter, but loved 😆 because of the unique taste it added to food.
I served it with the boiled yam. The food was heavenly. Please try out this amazing African recipe and you will be glad you did.
