LOH101- If the Word Resilient was a person, it’s definitely my Grandmother

Hello ladies,

It’s a new week with an interesting topic to talk about. I eagerly anticipate the topic for each week. One interesting fact is that, there is always a topic to deliberate about. This week, I will be answering the second question for this contest.

2️⃣ Let's talk about a resilient woman, it can be your friend, family member, co-worker, etc. What is her life challenge and what did she do to overcome the trial she faced?

If the word resilient was a person, it’s definitely my Grandmother. This woman have passed through thick and thin as well as the different most challenging phases of life and have never given up. Things that will break others, made her stronger.

There was a community clash in my area during the year 2015, where a stray bullet passed through the stomach of my Grandmother. She just came back from the farm, and was peeling cassava when the incident happened. She was rushed immediately to the hospital, and the bullet was removed from her stomach, we all thought it was the end for her, but God was merciful enough..although she was bedridden for years. While my grandmother was trying to recover from the shock of what happened to her, Feb 2018 she lost her husband, which is my grandfather. This shock devastated her, as there is so much pain in losing one’s mate. Someone you have grown fond of and come to love all your life. My grandfather was her source of comfort when she had the bullet incident that almost took her life. My grandfather was buried March 2018, and by October 19 same 2018, my grandmother lost her only son, who is also my uncle. 2018 was one of the most devastating years, for my grandmother as well as the entire family. My grandmother has only two children, a boy and a girl. The boy is my late uncle, while the girl is my mother, who is now the only surviving relation. We wished the year 2018 never came. I saw my grandmother begging for death, but death did not come.

Well, to help my grandmother heal, my mother had to take her along with us back to the city. My grandmother has lived with us since the year 2018. We her grand children are her source of Joy and comfort. She has never also stopped calling God. She made God her everything and her source of comfort. Although she has continued to fall ill from time to time, especially when she things of her late husband as well as her only son who is dead, we have always catered for her, and showed her real love.

Every parents dream, is always for their children to bury them, but sometimes life happens and things are unpredictable. May God continue to console all resilient women out there who have struggled and passed through life one way or the other.

I will like to invite @nickydee @traciyork @emma-h to participate in this contest.

Thanks for reading through my post.
Rewards from this post will be directed to my resilient woman ❤️

What a story about your grandmother. It must have been so hard for her, losing her husband and later, her son. And that bullet that hit her... she is strong!

Your grandmother has been through some very difficult trials and has been overcoming them. The loss of her husband and son I think was a hard blow.

Losing your loved ones is very painful and Your Grandmother had two very precious people going away. I do not think any words would be able to explain the grief that she would have gone through. May strength always be with her
