Having a good time regardless...... Weekend-engagement #198.

Hello everyone, happy weekend!

Weekends are usually for social gatherings and events. These social get together can vary depending on the occasion at hand but one thing that is never absent in any socal gathering is food and drinks.

In my country, it is highly important that food and drinks be available to serve the attending guests or else such a social gathering will be called a joke and when such happens, the hosts will be ridiculed in that environment. So every host knows fully well to make food or drinks available as a form of entertainment asides other things.

Speaking on drinks at a social event, it can range from water, soft drinks to alcoholic drinks but the choice of drinks solely depends on the influence of the host plus the type of guest to be in attendance.

I am of the school of thought that one should drink what one is comfortable with. Whether it is alcohol or water or just soft drinks, you have what is palatable to you.

A person does not need to drink alcohol to have a good time. One can have only water and still have a good time. For those whose alcohol intolerant level is low, it would be an unwise thing to consume alcohol at a social event.

Three years ago, one fine Saturday morning, I prepped myself to attend a co-worker's wedding. The event was a lavish one with lots of fun activities at the reception venue to keep guests entertained. Then cane time for serving refreshments and a man at a table besides my sitting table was busy gulping alcohol. He was actually taking Star beer but for some reason, I noticed something strange about his behaviour.

He was already talking with a slur which made me all the more curious as to what happened as it was no too long that drinks were served. I was also waiting for a good show to be performed as well by the drunk man. I overheard another guy at their table asking him if he wants to quit the bet and surrender.

"Oh my! the plot thickens" I thought out loud. I could not believe that man was willing to push himself all for a bet. The bet of course involved money but I felt he should have known about his alcohol tolerance level and not bet foolishly but heck he did.

He passed out after taking just four bottles of Star beer and lost the bet by becoming an item of mockery to those on his table. That aside, his wallet and phone were also stolen from him in that state. I got to know because he began to ask some guests about it. How sad, he should have known better.

My simple response is that one does not need to drink alcohol to have a good time in a social setting. A malt drink is my preferred choice at a social gathering.

This is my response to one of the questions posed by @galenkp for the. #weekend-experiencecommunity #198.

Thank you for reading.

He really does not need to drink what he can't handle, just to win a bet. I agree with you that it is safe to ho with your favorite malt. 😃. Where is this party at? I don't need any drink but jollof rice, hahaha

Some people actually want to do beyond their limits and in the end, they are disgraced and embarrassed. Just imagine that man, he lost the bet, and not only that, his phone and wallet got stolen which he would definitely regret when his eyes are opened clearly. My drink too is malt and that is it.
