Old time crush.

I sang along with my beats bluetooth headset.

"What song are you singing right now that has got you all excited?" Brandy, my classmate asked.

"It's my all time favourite song from the Backstreet boys album and girl this song just speaks love" I answered enchantingly while giving her puppy dog eyes.

"Ah, you and this love thing again before it was Joe, now it's Backstreet boys, don't tell me they are now your crush?"

"You are correct. Backstreet boys are my new crush. I like all their songs an put them on replay. Joe's songs were also good but I am done crushing on him, I have moved on to the new guys on the block" I replied heartily and we both laughed our way home from school.

That was my fifteen year old self, walking home with a classmate that lives close to my neighborhood after school hours and happily conversing about teenage stuff which of course included boys.

It's not news that girls that age become curious of the opposite gender and I was not left out. Funny thing was that I was not interested in the boys at my school. My sights were set higher for the big fish on television. "How silly I must sound then".

Due to my inkling for music, especially those songs that fall within the rhythm and blues genre, I got attracted to love songs and became interested in them.

I would play those songs on replay all nigh long just to memorize it's lyrics and when I do memorize the words, I throw a solo karaoke party and sing to my hearts content.

Backstreet boys became a hit in my country in the early 2000's and they have since rocked my world. Listening to them again after almost 20 years is flooding my heart with so much happiness and nostalgia. The vibe is still the same, their passion and way with love words that can melt a girl's heart is still on point.

I enjoy listening to good music unlike what is being discharged around in this generation. Some musicians lack diligence and creativity, these artistes just wake and go to the studio to record "whatever", without a thought for their listeners. For a whole 4mins single, three and half minutes will be used for only instrumentals with the remaining half for incoherent phrases.
