Photo Evolution..my experience.

Greetings everyone, welcome to my blog.

Since far back as I can recall, photographs are means of expressing voiceless emotions and store memories that we can look back on and cherish.

Born during the 90s, I ws privileged to have met photography after its tedious evolutionary move over time. Black and White photography were shunned for coloured photographs. The kind were you had to wait for several days before the photographer brings your photos because he has to take the film for "washing" and when the photos arrive, it would be stored in a photo album and used to entertain guests at intervals.

At any event be it weddings, birthdays, funerals, school prize giving day ceremonies and others, you are sure to see photographers in their numbers, each vying for a potential customer. One had to carefully choose a familiar photograher or the pictures taken will get lost in limbo. This happened to me during my primary school prize giving day ceremony. My mom just called a random photographer to take our pictures with hopes that the guy was affiliated with the school. That was a loss because till date, I never got the pictures neither was my mum refunded.

Before long, we transitioned into a new wave of photography simply referred to as "wait and get" or print photography. It implies taking a photo with a camera and getting the copy in mere minutes.

From print photography to phone photography which came with the advent of Android phones. This made it easy to take photos by simply clicking the camera app on the phone.

Even with the introduction of phone photography, picture quality mattered as the cameras on the phones then were not dope, like the ones we have now. Take a look at this pics shot with an Android phone in 2014.

see how unrefined it is

Then a photo in 2015

Then these in 2024..

Did you not te difference in picture quality?

You certainly can't compare the pictures above to the ones that are taken with recently developed smart phones. Not only that, there are certain photo tools and apps that has aided the evolutionary trend of photographs, causing our pictures to come alive bursting with bright colours. Oh, let's not forget AI generated images that transforms an ordinary image to that of an impressive work of art.

There are now less and less photo studios around, this is due to the influence of digital photo tools found in phones. Now anyone can capture as they please.

That's it for the #aprilinleo day 18 prompt on photo evolution.

Thank you all for reading and smiling...shalom😁

All images are mine, from my gallery.

print photography is no longer popular these days as it used to be, everyone has now switched to digital photography by taking pictures with their phones. The funny is that I have lost a lot of pictures I took with my phone many years ago but I still have a printed photo of me when I graduated from kindergarten.
