"Just Quickly" get the Plants from the Winter Quarter ...

... outside on the fresh air and plant the tomatoes in the pots....

That was what I had thought this morning. But then, when I went to my terrace and once again saw this terrible old carpet, finally the work fury grabbed me.

Why is there such a carpet at all? Because the tiles on this terrace were unfortunately not quite frost-resistant at the time and therefore over the years flake off. So my parents thought, while I lived in Bavaria, it would be a simple solution to put such a carpet there.

Now I was never a big friend of this plastic carpets, but the first few years it was still a pretty good solution. Only now the carpet had become really too old and creepy. So now it finally had to go:

When I started to cut open the carpet at one end, it turned out that there was a lot of green dust from the carpet underneath... so I took the cleaner, not to inhale too much of this poison.

At the other corner it was even nastier, because the carpet was still wet there. But there was no dust there.

And so it went on piece by piece and more and more of the old tiles came to light.

One of my planter boxes unfortunately broke when I pulled it away, I guess it was already very rotten. But the other two are still ok and can easily be rolled back and forth (now that the stupid carpet is gone).

And finally, many hours later, I was could go back to my day plan and say once again:
Okay, now I can take the plants out of the winter quarters and put in my tomatoes ;-)

Citrus plants, margarithe, pomegranate tree, lemon verbena and a yasmine plant had stood for months protected from frost in the shoring and were now happy that they were finally allowed out again.

By the way, the doll carriage for the plant babies has worked very well and I will definitely use again next year. The two large tomato plants and the two bell pepper plants are, by the way, exactly those that I had sown at the time for the GROVID22 Challenge!

I have to think of a solution for the broken trough, but for now the plants may stay in there. And the tiles, well they are not nice I know, but for now better than the old carpet.

Only to walk barefoot will probably not be so good, because the splinters are already very sharp.

Nur "mal schnell" die Pflanzen aus dem Winterquartier holen...

... und die Tomaten einsetzen....

das war es, was ich mir heute morgen gedacht hatte. Doch dann, als ich auf meine Terrasse ging und mal wieder diesen schrecklichen alten Gartenteppich sah hat mich die Arbeitswut gepackt.

Warum ist da überhaupt so ein Teppich? Weil die Fliesen seinerzeit leider nicht ganz frostfest waren und daher abplatzen. So dachten meine Eltern, während ich noch in Bayern weilte, es wäre doch eine einfache Lösung, so einen Teppich dahin zu legen.

Nun war ich noch nie ein großer Freund dieses Plastik Teppiche, aber die ersten Jahre war es doch eine recht gute Lösung. Nur jetzt war der Teppich wirklich zu alt und gruselig geworden. Also musste der jetzt endlich weg:

Als ich mal an einem Ende angefangen habe den Teppich aufzuschneiden, stellte sich heraus, da war total viel grüner eckeliger Staub vom Teppich darunter... also gleich mal den großen Staubsauber geholt, bevor ich zuviel von diesem Gift einatme.

An der anderen Ecke war es noch eckliger, weil der Teppich dort noch nass war. Dafür staubte es dort aber nicht.

Ja und so ging es Stück für Stück voran und immer mehr der alten Fliesen kamen zum Vorschein.

Einer meiner Pflanzkästen ist leider gebrochen als ich ihn weg gezogen habe, der war wohl schon sehr morsch. Aber die anderen beiden sind noch ok und lassen sich ganz leicht hin und her rollen (jetzt wo der doofe Teppich weg ist)

Und schließlich, viele Stunden später, war ich dann soweit, dass ich doch noch sagen konnte:
Okay, jetzt kann ich die Pflanzen aus dem Winterquartier holen und meine Tomaten einsetzen ;-)

Zitruspflanzen, Margarithe, Granatapfelbaum, Zitronenverbene und eine Yasminpflanze hatten monatelang vor Frost geschützt in dem Verbau gestanden und waren nun happy, dass sie endlich wieder raus durften.

Der Puppenwagen für die Pflanzenbabies hat sich übrigens sehr gut bewährt und ich werde ich nächstes Jahr bestimmt wieder verwenden. Die beiden großen Tomatenpflanzen und die beiden Paprikapflanzen sind übrigens genau diejenigen, die ich seinerzeit für die GROVID22 Challenge gesät hatte!

Und so sieht es nun fertig aus:

Für den gebrochenen Trog muss ich mir eine Lösung überlegen, aber einstweilen dürfen die Pflanzen noch da drin bleiben. Und die Fliesen, naja die sind nicht schön ich weiß, aber einstweilen besser als der alte Teppich.
Einzig barfuß zu laufen wird wohl nicht so gut sein, weil die Splitter die sich lösen schon sehr scharfkantig sind.

Somit wisst ihr nun, womit ich heute den gesamten Tag verbracht habe :-) Wobei auf den Fotos siehts jetzt gar nicht nach so viel Arbeit aus.
