Pretty Toad Visit in the Garden
We have a nice little guest in the garden. She is probably here more often, because we have one of the few gardens where nature is allowed to grow more freely, then in the gardens around us.
As far as I could determine it is a so-called common toad / "earth toad".

I found the following description:
plump shape
red iris and horizontal pupil
light brown to grayish coloration
distinct ear gland behind the eye
warty skin
All very true, so my diagnosis: common toad (earth toad) :-) And her fingers remind me 100% percent of ET! We love ET, dont we?
Whatever exactly, I think she is very beautiful, especially the eyes are fascinating. However, she was a bit annoyed by the photo session and glad to finally disappear again in the bushes under the pear tree.

Wir haben einen netten kleinen Gast im Garten. Wobei sie wahrscheinlich öfter hier ist, da wir rundherum einen der wenigen Gärten haben, wo die Natur auch noch ein wenig frei wachsen darf.
Soweit ich ermitteln konnte handelt es sich dabe um eine sogannte "Erdkröte"

Alles sehr zutreffend, also meine Diagnose: Erdkröte :-) Und ihre Finger erinnern mich zu 100% Prozent an ET! We love ET, nicht wahr?
Was genau auch immer, ich finde sie wunderschön, vor allem die Augen sind faszinierend. Allerdings war sie von der Fotosession etwas genervt und froh, dann endlich wieder im Gebüsch unter dem Birnbaum verschwinden zu können.

yes thay have so pretty eyes, I love them too. Many may think they are not pretty, but to me they are :-)
Beautiful toad it is. They are crucial for the environment as they play a definite role in the food chain. These bumps are actually glands which acts as defence mechanism by releasing a smelly poison. At fist i mistekn them with an abnormality LOL. It's a good sign these organisms are present in your garden... The ecosystem of your garden is healthy. Congrats dear🌱🌱

Irgendwie mag ich Frösche und Kröten, aber in großen Mengen können die ganz schön viel Lärm machen. Bei einem Urlaub im Norden in der Nähe von Hamburg hatte wir ein kleines Ferienhaus und der Besitzer hatte einen Teich hinten dran. Nachts gab es ein tolles Quak-Konzert.

Gluey? Do you mean slimy? Or sticky? A frog that lives in the water would be kind of slimy and smooth. But a toad like this would be soft and dry and just bumpy.
Hm not sure about the english word, a little bit like Snails. Like a fresh cought fish. Slimy probably.
But think youre right just a habit to touch wild animals with a glove.
I don't think I'd ever get do close to a Toad. I'm not as brave. Lol!
They actually look more beautiful with the close-up look but the rough scales can be terrifying. The Poison comes in handy too!

Her eyes is beautiful with the horizontal shape it has and very fascinating!...I often watch these water like creatures in natgeo wild channel in DStv... they show kinds of animals, sea creatures and lots more!

I stopped by when I saw the post was about toad. I read @princessbusayo post about her cousin who picked up frogs thinking they were toads. I can't tell the difference between a frog and a toad. Do you know the difference?
