A Bicycle Promise
You know those fake promises we get as kids? I got them a lot especially when they want us to do so well in school, promises like if you come out top of your class I will get you a toy. Well growing up I wanted a bicycle. My dad always said if you come out top of your class I will get you whatever you want, bicycle included but he never got me one.
Just one of my friends had a bicycle then and we all wanted to ride on it so we took turns in riding. Whenever I finish riding I go back home and ask my parents to get me my bicycle but at a point, I realized they wouldn’t so I stopped asking. That didn’t stop me from cycling with my friend’s bicycle. It was fun and since we took turns to do it, you just get this feeling of happiness when waiting for your turn.
I stopped riding her bicycle when one day we gathered to ride as usual and then it was the owner’s turn to ride the bicycle, I think she lost her track as she wasn’t attentive so she fell or maybe tried to pull up some stunt well she sustained a big injury after the fall. I ran home immediately to avoid more issues. Well, it never ended there as she said we pushed her and the issue was reported to my parents. They disciplined me so well and scolded me for not being contented and I was asked not to leave the house again.
During my little brother's last birthday, I asked him what he wanted, and he eagerly expressed his wish for a bicycle. This instantly brought back memories of my unfulfilled bicycle dream. Curious, I suggested he ask our parents for one. Surprisingly, he revealed that our dad declined the request. Reflecting on my past, I made a deal with him—I promised to buy him a bicycle if he topped his class. I wanted to give him a chance to experience the joy of receiving what he wished for, even if I couldn't have it in my childhood. It became a promise I was determined to keep, hoping to break the cycle of unfulfilled childhood promises in our family.
You must be wondering if I wanted to pull the same stunts our elders always pull but no, well I think he wanted a bicycle because he came out top of his class. Well I fulfilled my promise and then I asked my friend to help me check around for bicycles for kids and then he did, so I bought the bicycle.
The day, the bicycle arrived, I tried riding on it that was when I realized I could no longer ride a bicycle. I couldn’t even move a distance with it. Well, I think that situation made me lose every interest I had in cycling. Well, at least I fulfilled my promise and got my little brother a bicycle. He hasn’t stopped telling me how I am his favorite sister. Hopefully, I get to develop another interest in cycling then I might learn how to ride a bicycle again.

Wow! That's a wonderful gift you gave your little brother. Just look at that smiling face. I hope he has many safe kilometers with it!

Thank you so much ☺️ I’m sure he would enjoy every ride he takes with it
In my own time, these fancy promises like bicycle never worked. Who will buy you small bicycle when we have a compulsory-to-learn adult bicycle?😅😅
The bicycle looks fine for a soft boy he is. Did you say you tried riding that? You intended spoiling it😅
No 😂😂😂 I was trying to test my riding skills. Well it didn't come out nice. He is a soft boy indeed
Don't go and spoil it🧐
Oh , believe me when I say parents always promise and fail hahaha.
It's so nice of you to get your brother a bicycle, I'm sure he will even want to do more better in school now that you fulfilled your promise.
Kids these days don't know how lucky they are to have sweet siblings who makes wishes come true for them , I used to get legit slaps from my siblings when I was younger 😂
Your brother is so cute♥️
She said legit slaps 😂😂😂 I’m so sorry but at least you have many elder siblings. These generation kids are super lucky😁
Thanks Meya ☺️
Yeah I do😄
😘
I believe it is the injury aspect of riding a bicycle that is why most parent disapprove of buying bicycle for their children because when I was a kid I also wanted a bicycle but my parents repeatedly declined my request but during that time I heard of a lot of accident caused by reckless cycling in my neighbourhood.

We were a lot that wanted bicycle when we were kids. That’s the most exciting thing about it.
Sustaining injuries when cycling is really something I fear.
Thank you for stopping by☺️
The same thing happened to me, I was the owner of the bicycle then, I was playing with my siblings and I sustained a very big injury that was how my father packed the bicycle and threw it inside the ceiling, at least no one could go there to bring it out, I am happy you fulfilled your brother's wish. #dreemerforlife
How sweet. I'm sure you made the poor child so happy. A place in your heart must have lit up as this is your fulfilling your wish through him too and that's not a bad thing.
Well done

Thanks for fulfilling the promise, even if you didn't get one when you were young. Parents would always be parents. Getting into trouble with someone because of his bicycle was enough to buy one for you, but they didn't, hahaha. Thank God you can afford more than that now, only that you can't ride again. 😅
#dreemerforlife
😂😂😂 I will try to ride it one of these days, but let me not spoil it 😂😂
Hahaha, if you spoil it, then be ready to buy another 😅
Exactly 😂😂
I guess parents that ever used this trick were just after the results they wanted to see or get, not really after the reward they promised. My parent never promised me gifts, it was cane (if I don't do well in school) 😂😂.
Of course, what do you expect?. You bought him one of the top 3 toy/gift any boy would want.
I am sure you felt so good within you too, that you were able to fulfil the promise you made.
Cane😂😂😂 that cracked me up.
I’m just happy I’m his favorite sister😂😂😂
Then, they don't have time to cajole us to do this, you juat get caned 😂😂.
Now, I feel like telling my sis to get me a bicycle (but I guess i'm too old for that)
There are adults bicycle😂😂
Ahh, that's true😂
Nooooo it's like riding a bike, you never forget!
Except if you are a Beeeeeee 🙃
😂😂😂😂 Uncle T
Hehe what a good sister you are tho!
Anything to make him happy ☺️ Thank you☺️
