Eine wahrhaft frohe Weihnacht. / A truly merry Christmas.

(English below)

Ganz viel Freunde, ganz viel Familie. Das tut mal so richtig gut.

So, muss jetzt echt schlafen gehen.

Oh my I'm tired. Everyone in Holiday knows that feeling now (or yesterday or a little later today or whenever you celebrate). Although none of us - besides mom - is religious, we did the whole Christmas thing this year. I think the last time we celebrated Christmas that way was in 2011. We had a good reason to pull out all the stops - Lily.

It was the first time that we were able to have Christmas in Germany with her, and it was it was a big wish of hers. With my whole family (which is my parents and my brother). And snow. The former happened, the latter didn't (yet?). But I have an incredibly happy munchkin sleeping curled up in the thick blankets in the bed next to me right now, filled up with my famous Christmas Meal, cookies, ice cream, chocolate chips and what not.

It's the first time, that we were able to celebrate Christmas in Germany with her, and it was her biggest wish. With the whole family (my parents and my brother). And Snow. The former worked out, the latter not (yet?). Still, I have an incredibly happy munchkin snoring in the cozily thick blankets next to me, filled up with my famous Christmas dinner, cookies, ice cream, chocolate sprinkles and what not.

It was incredibly moving. We even made it to the nativity play. Mom and Lily were baking since Monday, then decorating the tree, wrapping gifts. I was cooking for 2 days, while dad was selecting a big box full of tasty wine, precious crystal glasses, expensive brandys and cognacs - a delight. And my brother managed to finish all his work in time to now spend some calm days with us. Just perfect. We enjoyed it so much.

Tomorrow we'll meet some family, and old tradition that was revived also thanks to Lily finally being allowed to come. Saturday more family, Sunday brunch with some of my co-graduates from high school. So many friends, so much family. That feels so overwhelmingly good.

So, really gotta go to sleep now. Is wish you all the merry Christmas and/or the happiest of holidays!

I wish you a happy whatnot and may the snow fall upon you like chocolate sprinkles ...as opposed to chocolate chips...which are an entirely different article altogether, if you don't mind me saying so.

That could well be. I was actually referring to Hagelslag, which is not much chocolate, but mainly sugar and fat with only 7% cacao. Goes great with vanilla ice cream. And they have really good vegan vanilla ice cream in Germany. From time to time, it's awesome to be here.

Ah, Hagelslag. I remember it well. I lived 15 years in the Netherlands. ....same word in Dutch.

It's not the same in German, but everyone knows Hagelslag, so that describes it easier than Schokoladenstreusel for those who don't speak German 😅

Hahaha. Forgive me. What was I thinking? Of course you Germans have a much longer word for it:)
