Did you set your financial and crypto goals for the new year?

avatar

I was just talking with my brother and he threw a question at me: Did you set your goals for the new year? And I must say that I haven't thought about that specifically even if in my head there were some directions and achievements I should follow. So that gave me the idea to try and envision my financial and crypto goals for the new year. But where do I start? How do I know to translate some realistic goals and push to reach them?

As each of us has different priorities and sources of income, there is no clear pattern that exactly translates in a generic way to set goals for each of us. The retrospective of the previous year is the first thing that can give us some references about our ability to reach specific goals and quantitative targets. Based on this you can anticipate your consistency and yields and size them accordingly considering also the expenses or savings that can impact your account.

Once you review the accomplishments and the goals from the previous year you can predict and try to set new ones for this year. One way of making this easier is to set multiple goals and not rush with only one for the entire year. These can be:

  • short term (1-2 months)
  • medium-term (3-6 months)
  • long-term (6 months - 1 year)

This will help make the goals more realistic and be able to adapt them during the year based on your intermediary milestones. Your efforts going further should not start tomorrow, next week or in the middle of the year, but rather from the moment you draw them. This way these will have an immediate impact and you can start right away the journey and progress for reaching them.

Another thing that I am thinking is useful is to divide and conquer, thus instead of making a heavy overall goal, rather split that into smaller goals. And for me in crypto that translates to having my investments and portfolios split into specific domains: Hive portfolio, Leo Finance portfolio, Play2earn portfolio, DeFi assets or NFTs. Tracking them separately will provide also some good metrics about those that provide higher returns or which require less work effort to reach positive returns. And after you draw the line you can make new plans based on that data.

I wonder what other things you have considered when you've set your goals for 2022. I am still gathering the data from my previous year and plan to set my short, medium, and long-term goals on specific domains. So if there are new factors to be considered, just lay them down.

My goal on Hive is to get to 10k HP, which is 3x what I have now, but I can see the markets correcting this year and giving me a window to invest back and power up big time, it depends a bit on luck though.

Outside the blockchain, I have the goal to save more money than I did in 2021, but I need a new laptop (and I do mean need, not that I want) which will set me back, but the year is just getting started so maybe I can accomplish that.

2019 and 2021 showed a lot of people the importance o saving money and having some emergency funds, so I think many people may have similar goals.

I think 10K HP is a good portfolio for the future once you reach it and can provide a good revenue from curation. Savings is always an important component, even if investments are the ones that provide the real gains.

Thats definitely the best way to go, in the world where we have alot of distractions and time in not on our side, hitting the smaller daily targets helps in the long run.

When our goal is too big, we as human tends to think It's impossible, but smaller goals are easily done and before you know it you've crushed your long term goal in the process.

This has worked for me
countless times

Other things I consider is to win everyday by accomplishing every goals planned for the day.

I didn't really set any goals, I just want to be more focused on playing games on the blockchain and probably increasing my engagement. I believe the year will work out itself. Nothing too serious for me

That's cool, have fun by planing blockchain games and earning crypto, what more would anyone want? :)

Yeah I set my goals. I want to triple my current Hive power before or at the year's end

That is a good goal and sometimes relative progression is better than absolute numbers thrown there.

I'm taking a similar approach and splitting my portfolio into specific domains. I'm planning on sharing some of my strategies here on Leo in the next few days

Great to hear that, always a source of inspiration and knowledge for others.

Short-term goals are useful because they have the ability to provide "little victories" which can help you along your way. It also makes what can be a dauntgin g task seem much more attainable. Put one foot in front of the other, and step by step, you'll be on your way! :)

Indeed, taking it slow and building momentum for the long term is a good approach.

I did, and then I cut all the goals into monthly and weekly goals to see how much I should stack to stay on track. For some of them, I skipped the weekly part as I decided to fill that bag once a month. This first week, I've stacked up some more tokens than I should as it means more staking rewards, and it will benefit me later.

This is all a new approach btw, as a year ago, I could not focus on compounding and growing stakes. There was little room for that financially. I love that I can actually do this now and see progress each day.

Tracking tools are helping us take a glimpse of where we are and where we are going.

Nope. I set my goal each day based upon activity on Hive.

The rest is out of my control.

Daily goals are great even though I am not succeeding to perform them on a daily basis. This is why I try to set them up for a longer period, to give me some room in case I skip one day or another. Still, probably this approach is one that ensures presence and consistency on a daily basis.

I sure did and I'm pumped for it. Idk what it is but the new year always pumps me up for getting things done and setting some big goals. I've already been hammer at them left and right. LEO along with HIve are two primary focuses right now.

I was planning to get more organized this year, if the bull market would have behaved as "programmed", but it left me without a plan... Hope I won't screw it like in 2018.

Nothing set as growing is the only goal on Hive. Our eco system is too reliant on support from the community which no one can take for granted.

Yeah, I actually did, but the first thing that came to my mind is never mentioned in a financial goal. And yet, it is so important to reach those goals. I want to stay loyal to Hive and all the tribes I´m involved in because Hive and the ecosystem is the one thing that enables me to reach my goals if I deserve them!

Honestly not yet set any particular crypto goal but would love to hold some coin and will wait for pump. I'm not a crypto currency researcher so its pretty unpredictable to me.

I have lifegoals. Those I translate to 5 year goals and then to year goals. The year goals become
quarter, month, week and day goals. I am going after my lifegoals daily.
