Government Poverty Alleviation Scheme is a farce

The Nigerian government, which I believe is a collection of the most incompetent and useless humans on Earth are constantly seeking out ways to look stupid. A country that is currently sieged from all corners the by terrorists, the tertiary educational system completely shut down and dead electricity production has somehow found a way to distract the populace with another white elephant project.
It was recently reported that the Nigerian government recently approved a total sum of 400 Billion Naira($96,292,729.90) for a number of poverty alleviation shemes. On the surface, you might think this is a good thing but in reality it is absolute bollocks.
In the general scheme of things, this isn't that much money. For example, it is nowhere near the reported "stimulus" package that Ukraine receives from the US to fuel the war against Russia.
In any case, for a very poor country like Nigeria that is currently living in a completely debilitated condition, this is money that could go a long way in improving the lives of the citizens.
For starters, this sum could have been better channeled into financing some of the major problems in the country, which includes Tertiary institutions.
Everyone in Nigeria knows it but if you're outside, you probably won't be aware of the fact that virtually every single government-owned university in the country is currently not running. Let me put it this way, all universities are shut down because the government refuses to attend to the needs of our institutions and staff.
Yesterday, it was covered by the Guardian that a member of the very weak and practically useless house of Senate was "calling on" the government to put measures in place to put an end to the strike. If any of them knew their jobs and weren't executive lackeys, they would have impeached this president a long time ago.
Corruption will be the order of the day
Now here's the issue I have with this "poverty alleviation" scheme; it is 100% farce and will not serve its purpose.
I have experienced multiple presidents claiming to create one poverty alleviation scheme but over that period, Nigerians have consistently become poorer.
I don't mean to be a cynic but there's literally no other way to view Nigeria at this point. Everything fucking sucks and the people in charge don't care.
In fact, the people in charge just want to run down the clock and then pass it on to the next person that's going to plunder the economy some more. There's no hope in sight.
This poverty alleviation fund is going to end up being plundered by a subsection of Nigerians that may not be in government but are equally as evil. These sorts of funds never get into the coffers of those who need them. They're just schemes to steal funds and distract the people from their horrible reality.
I have given up
I have come to a conclusion that Nigeria is not going to get better in mine or my great grand children's lifetime. It is in the hands of plunderers that are setting the foundation for more plundering and incompetence to boot.
As far as I'm concerned, every single poverty alleviation scheme is a scam that will enrich a few and generally not improve our society. Life would be better if the government focuses on critical infrastructure and create a working environment.
Life would be better if the government focuses on sorting out security by, first of all, prioritising the life and welfare of the armed forces. Then subsequently equip them to tackle the challenges.
The people in power know what to do, but they choose not to do it. It is as I always say, "there's absolutely nothing wrong with Nigeria, everything is exactly the way it is meant to be".
