I got a new newer job

I've been working at the bookies since November last year and it has generally been a nice experience. It's a pretty simple job but it is not rewarding, at all.

Everyday, I interact with pretty much the same people, placing the same bets and smelling like cigarettes. I can't stand that smell.

The job is monotonous and at nights, when you're sat in an empty shop, you have enough time to think about different ways you can kill yourself or like, you know, do something positive. Whatever.

Anyway, if you're old and like, done with the rat race or like a teenager just grinding through university, this is a great job. However, if your blood is as hot as mine, you'd find very little incentive from the role.

So, yeah, I have been searching for a new job with better hours, better pay and generally better conditions. And yes, I got a new one.

I'll be starting my new role as a customer retention specialist in an insurance company from the 15th of April. It is a job that's somewhere in the middle of sales and customer service.

The role offers better pay than working for the bookies, better working hours (Monday to Friday) and the best part is that after completing a 7 week training, I will work from home. It's a a much better job that will bring even more balance to my life and will challenge me to be more.

I'll have targets to meet and all that but that's fine. I like having targets and schedules to keep my mind busy.

In the meantime, I'll be working at the bookies and doing my best every day. I appreciate the opportunity they gave me and I'll ensure I maintain the highest standard while I'm here.

I didn't come to the UK to play. I came here to grow my career and squeeze out maximum value from this rat race. So, I'll be doing courses to gain soft skills that I can then use to apply for even more demanding, rewarding and challenging roles.

Thanks Katerin. It's my fifth job since moving to the UK 😄. I think I'll stay here for a while.

I was looking at a similar job here for an insurance company. They seem to pay well. And I would enjoy not having to leave home to get to work.

With working remotely and for this type of job - I recommend starting to use an online notes software like OneNote if you have access to it! It’s such an important way to stay organized and keep things from falling off. I use it every day and it’s saved me ass a bunch of times!

Ah great stuff. I'll be getting a work laptop that comes with it and I'll use it more often.
