It's Two'sday

I didn't have much to say about the new year. Honestly, I wasn't really in the festive period because it feels like I've seen it all before.

I understand that the world is excited about the start of a new year. I just don't get why I should be excited about it because in the grand scheme of things, it really doesn't mean much to me.

In fact, the only major difference in my life is that I'll accidentally write 2023 instead of 2024. Other than that, I can't think of any particular difference that the turn of the year will come with.

I am still new to the weather here and rain in January is not something I'm used to. In Nigeria, we only have rain between March and August, so the weather has been unkind to me.

I've had to start the year with an annoying sore throat, mild fever and generally feeling under the weather. It's obviously not how I want to start the year but at least I'm alive.

I too had a pretty ambivalent feeling toward new year this year. Meh, it another year, live it well or don’t… the year doesn’t care about you. You have to care about you. So better I care about me rather than care about the new year.

Sounds about right, if you ask me. It's strange though because there used to be a magic about it, now it just feels monotonous.

I'm not excited too and that's okay. Don't take the street to feel happy and exited; do your things, and be happy the way you like it.

I think the obsession with new year celebrations is foolish and rooted in pagan obsession instead of anything beneficial. The days we should be celebrating instead are the solstice and equinox, those ones actually are important!
