Not sick enough

I hate the flu because you're sick and everyone knows exactly what you're going through. This means that while you are sick and everyone feels sorry for you or avoids you because it's contagious, they know you're not sick sick.

When I have the flu, I cough, sneeze, lots of catarrh in my nose that affects my breathing and feel drowsy. I could drive with the drowsiness but not long distances or anything like that.

The annoying thing about it is that with the flu, you are well and truly sick but you're not necessarily out of action. In fact, for the most part, you can live pretty normally and go about your daily activities.

Other than people with underlying conditions, the flu isn't a show stopper. That's what frustrates me about it. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather not be sick but if I was going to be sick, I'd prefer a proper show stopper like malaria where I'll be useless for a couple of days.

It is a very weird place to be in mentally. I get to go to work and do everything I normally do, while feeling the effects of the flu. You're also constantly reminded that the flu is contagious and avoided like a plague.

In a couple of days, I'll be back to normal and I won't be needing a sick leave. That sucks or maybe doesn't. Either way, we move.

Sorry about that, it can be very annoying for real. You’re not exactly sick but you are still sick, it’s like an in-between. I hope you get well soon, avoid taking anything cold for the time being.
