Godfall Challenge Edition: A very tedious first impression

So after doing my PlayStation plus subscription that I honestly did just so I can enjoy multiplayer mode in COD, I decided to check out the free games that I get for doing the subscription.

Every month PS plus subscribers get three free games and I decided to check one of them out. The one I picked is Godfall:Challenger Edition.

I have read some rumours about how the free games you get on the PS plus subscription are usually ass. Well, I figured I'd try one out for myself to know if it's true.

Impression

The game felt a little bit too raw for my liking. It felt like I was playing something that I could easily play on my Android phone.

I felt like the game dynamics was a little bit too reminiscent of what I've seen in God if war. Well, a watered down version of God if war, of course.

There's so much that could be done with the graphics but considering it's a $14 game, I guess we could say it's value for money.

The story telling also feels a bit off. Unlike Ghost of Tsushima and God of war where you instantly feel connected to the journey of the main character, this one just seems a bit bleh.

From the beginning, you're just plunged into a mystical world with no background knowledge of how things got here. I guess because this is the challenger edition and the other version tells a better story? Who knows.

Overall, I can't complain because it's a free game. However, I don't think this is a game I'm going to get hooked on.

I'll play it from time to time but I reckon it'll take a really long time before I finish it.

If you have a Playstation Plus subscription, then you should add it to your library. However, if you don't, I don't recommend you buy it.

Imagine paying $70 for this game when the PS5 launched. I would be so pissed. It's not terrible, but I am definitely glad that I got it for free so I didn't have to get mad over wasting money. Looks pretty, but the gameplay didn't capture me long-term.

Oh man, that would fucking suck to pay so much for it.
Have you finished it? Got any gameplay videos?

There were many people who paid that much. It has to burn.

Not really sure if finishing the Challenger Edition is possible. Seems like they'd rather you play forever and constantly upgrade loot. I just can't do that with a hack and slash game this repetitive. There are several different ways to fight, but they are only slightly different.

I've dropped 6 Godfall videos so far. Probably won't be making any more. I am tired of the game. Tower of Trials was pretty fun the one playthrough I did though. I can't imagine going that long again though. Maybe it is better in co-op, but I doubt it makes it that much more fun.

Oh some of the videos are quite recent even. Good stuff bro.

You have lots of upgrades and shit. I haven't even been able to figure out that stuff. I have like two weapons that I got along the way though.

So it just goes on and on like this till forever? Monsters getting stronger and that lady constantly talking sexually in my ear about his brother or some shit?

All of the upgrades were available pretty much right away. Just have to finish the tutorial, which you can skip by the way.

Yea I'm pretty sure the endgame stuff is just repetition. That means yes you can bet that lady will be moaning in your ear when you pull out that sword for battle.
