Starting a new project: Hive FPL could turn into a huge marketing scheme

One of the most difficult things to do is actually starting a new project. You could have the greatest ideas in the history of ideas but if you don't get started, it will not materialise into anything tangible.

I can't put my finger on it but there's something invigorating about starting a new project. It is like watching a baby come into the world and then experiencing every moment of its existence.

The first time I embarked on a community building project, I created the Hive Naija community. Right now, we're over 2000 spread across Hive, Discord, Telegram, and Twitter. It is still a work in progress but it grew to the point that it now has community managers.

Watching the Hive Naija project evolve from just an idea into what it is today has been quite an adventure. It is not there yet but at least it creates value in some way. I'm still working on that project and will continue to put in my best to make sure it thrives and grows.

Background

Football is the most popular sport in the world and the English Premier League is the most popular football league in the world. This is why the FPL is as huge as it is.

No matter where you are in the world, you either have an interest in an English football club or know someone that does. This means that the FPL project has the potential to reach out to millions of players in the world.

The Fantasy Premier League project

I have recently embarked on a new project that I believe has promise. The aim is to create a tokenised fantasy football league that will invariably become a marketing tool for the Hive community at large.

At the time of writing, the project is still in the incubation phase and you can read all about it here. If you have further interest, you can also visit the discord channel here.

The FPL is a huge movement with millions of players worldwide. The aim of the project is to tap into the player base and attract them to Hive.

If we grow our mini league to a decent number and get some top players to participate, we could actually surreptitiously be marketing the game to the entire world with FPL as a platform.

Sponsorship

Right now, we're still seeking sponsorship that we can use to promote the project. At the time of writing, OCD has indicated an interest in supporting the project and we're very grateful for that.

So if you're interested in FPL and would like to get involved in this project, please drop a shout in the comment section, hit us up in the discord or just contact us on twitter.

The challenge

The season starts in August, so we need to get our numbers up. I've spoken to different mini league managers outside Hive and I reckon we'll be onboarding a decent number of people to the community.

I also have to combine this community activity with managing the Hive Naija community. I'm actually excited about this part.

This is a journey that I'm already looking forward to and I believe it will materialise into a solid project on Hive. We will onboard a huge number of people and get people talking about this awesome tokenised mini league.

You certainly have a large pool to tap into.

Maybe this is a great time to team up with @rabona. Both are targeting the same audience and perhaps both can leverage the other for greater gains.

Just gotta market the rewards side of it as prize money.

Prize money for not only winning, but being active and talking about your team.

Or heck, talking trash about your mate's team.

I love it man, count me in!
