The understated value of Hive

I've been around crypto for the best part of the last 5 years and I've actually never physically attended any event. Virtual meetings are fun and all but there's nothing like a face-to-face meeting with the people that I've built virtual relationships with.

Hive fest comes next month and I really like the timing because it falls on my birthday. If I was attending Hive fest, there are so many awesome people that I'd absolutely love to meet.

I've had the pleasure of interacting with so many people in this community and learning about different cultures in the process. It is always fun to exchange notes with ordinary people in different societies, and find out how despite being so different, we're all the same.

Hive is fundamentally a crypto community as it is home to a variety of tokens and thriving projects. However, behind these projects are people that are constantly interacting through different social platforms on the blockchain.

On Hive, we learn about crypto, participate in the growth of a network and share notes. In the midst of all the crypto and cultural education we receive through hive, we subtly learn and develop better tolerance for people that are different from us.

I reckon that there are people that have met, and fallen in love through this community. There are intercultural unions and friendships that transcend borders and time zones.

Hive is the Real World

Hive is a reflection of the real world; there will be good, bad and grey areas. Who is to say what is good or not, all we can do is ensure that we derive maximum value. When you think about it, isn't that what everyone else is doing in the "real world"?

When you wake up every day to handle your day job, you interact with people and make friends along the way. Your best friend might be a colleague or it might be the uber driver that took you to work on one faithful day that you wore the same shirt as the uber driver.

When you publish a post on Hive, you can earn from likes, you get more views when you're reblogged and people also drop comments. The likes, reblogs and comments are from humans that could easily become your friends one day.

The internet is rife with a lot of toxic energy. On traditional social media, people cheer at you for being rude or offensive to random strangers. Hive feels like a safe space on the internet where we co-moderate each other to ensure that things don't plunge into the chaos of Twitter, for example.

You see, the difference between Hive and web 2 social platforms is that Hive's mirror of the real world is akin to a workplace where you have to be respectful to your colleagues, even when you're friends. In a workplace, there's always value flying around and so people are treated accordingly.

On web 2 platforms, there's little to no value for the average user. Only a handful of individuals earn from web 2 and those accounts often interact respectfully.

Most individuals in web 2 know that there's really no value attached to their accounts, so they channel their inner douche into their posts there. Meanwhile, on Hive, where value is attributed to virtually every activity, we interact in a certain way that is befitting.

For all the financial benefits hive has to offer, the understated value is in the way we interact as a community. We are a crypto community that is a source of income to millions and also a social hub where we build valuable relationships.

Definitely, and doesn't that fact add enough value to make spending time here worthwhile? Add to that the opportunity to earn, acquire new skills, stretch your creative talent, and have fun - and it's pretty much priceless.

Same here :)

When the centralized platform I started on died, I was genuinely sad. It was a home... But now? Most of the people I met there are here, and I met many new friends who are wonderful too🙌 So it worked out for the best! Oh, and my posts won't go offline! Ever spent around 8 hours a day for like a week saving your old posts 😂?

On web2 people understand there is value attached to their account and something if you want to get attention their you be ready to do something really crazy or nasty. Hive is very different because everything you do here is value
