This is why I bought 100 more Rift Watcher Gems

It sucks that I missed out on the first Rift Watcher airdrop but that couldn't be helped. The competition was crazy in the presale round and even if I were online, my internet would probably not even have been fast enough to get any pack.

After the presale round ended, I still managed to get my hands on 122 more Rift Watchers gems that I subsequently opened. After that purchase, I thought I was done with Rift Watchers but after a short investigation, I realised that I still have some purchasing left to do.

So the scenario is pretty simple and is one that I reckon many people are currently mulling over as well. It is basically about eligibility for the future Rift Watcher airdrops that are on the way.

If you check the airdrop section of Rift Watcher gems, you'll notice the caveats to be assured of receiving the coming airdrops. After the Presale airdrop, you need to buy at least 200 gems to be guaranteed for the first airdrop and 300 gems to guarantee the last airdrop.

At 122 RW gems purchased at the time, I was still some way short of being assured of receiving the first airdrop, so I decided to put a few hundred dollars towards getting gems and that puts me at a total of 232 packs when you include the 10 bonus packs I received.

At 232 packs purchased, I'm assured of at least receiving the next 2 Rift Watchers airdrops and that's not so bad if you ask me.

Taking it slow

I know I've said this many times but I reckon this will be my last major Splinterlands purchase for a long time. There will be future purchases but they won't be with major because I'll be tightening my belt for the next couple of months and focusing on profit.

There's also really no need to rush into buying more Gems because of the current state of the crypto market.

This recent purchase was done with HBD, so it was a straightforward deal. On top of that, vouchers are quite cheap these days, so buying them doesn't exactly strain my wallet.

In fact, after swapping HBD for SPS, I realised that I swapped a bit more than required, so I staked the remaining SPS to bring my total back up to 10K SPS staked. It used to be a lot more than that but remember that I liquidated some of my SPS to buy the first 122 Rift Watcher gems.

Anyway, after this recent purchase, I'll earn even more SPS and vouchers than before, putting me in a much better position for any future pump.

We're still very deep in bear territory and the only silver lining these days is that it doesn't look like it could get worse. However, considering crazy the crypto market can be, I won't write off further dips.

In any case, I'll be farming SPS tokens throughout the bear market and keep going until the market sorts itself out.

Now, considering the pace of Rift Watcher gems sale, I don't think packs are going anywhere soon, so the plan is to simply wait out the bear market and buy more gems when SPS pumps hard. In any case, I'll be getting another 100 Gems spread out in the period, so I can at least surpass the 300 gem requirement that assures me of receiving all the airdrops.
