Will the release of GLG boost the price of packs?
I'd be lying if I told you that I wasn't disappointed by the current market price of GLG packs. I had high hopes but it has been dashed by the way the market perceives the asset.
When you think about it, I guess the current price of GLG packs isn't exactly out of the ordinary. Overall, it is a risky asset and even the GLX tokens you earn for staking them doesn't do much to allay the concerns.
Right now, GLMSPA as they're called in the game, don't actually have any particular utility. Reason being that they're part of a game that is still in development.
Now, considering that there's still so much to come from the game and much to look forward to, I guess the current price is a fair reflection of the situation. It is obviously not what I was hoping for, since I wanted to flip mine or at least break even but I can live with the situation.
The farmed GLX is sparse consolation but at least I earned something from having them. Also, who knows what the future holds with them?
The game will boost the boosters
In the GLS discord channel, they announced a mini or bite-sized roadmap, if you may. The roadmap documents the plans for the next couple of weeks and among them was that we should be expecting the game in Q2 this year.
Q2 is not so far away anymore, so we should be expecting some interesting things in the coming weeks. We haven't gotten teasers or anything but we know that the game will most likely take elements of Splinterlands and it will also be a card strategy type of game.
At the time of writing, I have 82 GLMSPA and I intend to get at least 18 more in the coming days. Having 100 will feel like a milestone but in reality, I might actually end up at a loss.
Considering how things are going and the number of packs that are already in circulation, I'm not sure that the assets or cards in the GLG packs will flip the amount I invested. Actually, I'm pretty certain the only way to break even will be to actually play the game and this is something that I originally didn't plan to do.
When the game is eventually released, I'll ride the hype and see how much value I can extract from it. If it is enough to fllip for profit, I'll take it but if it isn't, then I'll have no other choice than to open the packs and kick some ass in Genesis League goals.
I'm not too enthused by playing a card-based "soccer" game but I'll keep an open mind and see where it goes. Considering how well Splinterlands did there's no saying how big this game could eventually be, so starting now could put me in the same position as the Splinterlands early birds that bought alpha and beta packs back in the day.
The price of GLGS disappointed me as well. I find solace in the GLXs I earn for staking.

Yeah and unfortunately, GLX has been dumping hard since the release of validator nodes.
GLG, GLS, GLGT, GLMSPA, GLX, GLUSD.
They seriously need to get rid of all these names from the game page. This will confuse the shit out of new players that arent familiar with crypto.
I feel like the game is trying too hard to be like Splinterlands. Yes, it's the same team behind it but does it have to be identical?

I pretty much supposed it. I don't mind. I definitely will play the game, and generally look at this from different point of view.
How I see, GL Sports will come with plenty other sport games in the future. They started with soccer, the MLS Player Association support is a great recommendation.
So, I suppose GLX will be the token you can use in all games (Something like Hashking has the Buds, what you can use in different games).
And probably not soon, maybe takes years, but if they can add basketball, hockey, baseball, american football with the given leagues players association, then it can be huge. Especially, that 15-20% of Hive users are Americans - if my info is correct.
They love the ball games. (you can check how much a rare paper baseball card cost.)
And that's going to drive GLX price up and up. GLGT is the soccer token, if other sports will be added, all will have their own ones, too. I guess.
I won't buy lot of packs, bought only 10, maybe buy 10 more before they run the game, what I suppose will happen in 76 days (as that much left from packs staking).
How I see, these games (not all, now I see plenty basically a scam) can be profitable in the long run.
And don't mention, probably there will be future token staking for less return, like in all other games.
I am in it for more or less passive, permanent income, not for speculation.
And if I am wrong, I don't mind, not that big amount, can live with that if I lose.
