Cathedral of Caracas; impressive architectural design of the capital city (Eng - Esp)
Greetings Architecture and Design community, I hope you have had an excellent and productive week and much success in achieving your projects, I am happy to share a little of my visit to the city of Caracas, this beautiful city is the capital of Venezuela, visiting the capital city is a nice experience and regularly you have to walk in a hurry, life is so dynamic that you should take advantage of every minute to the fullest; the visit to the capital of the country is regularly done for personal errands or visits to relatives, this time it was for errands and I was impressed by the changes that I could see around the Bolivar square, everything looks very clean, organized and painted buildings. with beautiful colors.
Unfortunately due to lack of time it was not possible to completely tour the streets adjacent to the Plaza Bolivar, in these are located important buildings dating from colonial times, government offices, the theater, among others; the city has large and incredible buildings worthy of admiring and with great stories to tell, the tour focused on the Plaza Bolivar and its surroundings, whenever I visit these spaces I like to talk to residents and learn their impressions and stories about the buildings, due to the time factor I could barely talk to a man about the Cathedral of Caracas.
Saludos comunidad Arquitectura y Diseño, espero hayan tenido una excelente y productiva semana y mucho éxito en el logro de sus proyectos, me siento feliz de compartir un poco de mi visita a la ciudad de Caracas, esta hermosa ciudad es la capital de Venezuela, visitar la ciudad capital es una linda experiencia y regularmente hay que andar de prisa, la vida es tan dinámica que se debe aprovechar cada minuto al máximo; la visita a la capital del país regularmente se realiza por diligencias personales o visitas a familiares, en esta ocasión fue por diligencias y me quedé impresionada por los cambios que pude observar alrededor de la plaza Bolívar, todo luce muy limpio, organizado y los edificios pintados con hermosos colores.
Lastimosamente por falta de tiempo no fue posible recorrer completamente las calles adyacentes a la plaza Bolívar, en estas se ubican importantes edificios que datan de la época colonial, oficinas gubernamentales, el teatro, entre otros; la ciudad cuenta con grandes e increíbles edificios dignos de admirar y con grandes historias por contar, el recorrido se centró en la plaza Bolívar y su entorno, siempre que visito estos espacios me gusta conversar con los residentes y conocer sus impresiones e historias sobre las edificaciones, debido al factor tiempo apenas pude hablar con un señor sobre la Catedral de Caracas.
According to the information provided by this kind gentleman, the Cathedral of Caracas is also known as Metropolitan Cathedral of Santa Ana and its construction dates from the seventeenth century, it was also built where previously operated a small church that was destroyed by an earthquake, has five naves and several offices that extend along the block, is located in the historic center of the city near Bolivar Square and the birthplace of the Liberator.
On the facade you can see several columns, cornices and several windows in semicircular arches, the main door is shaped like a semi-arch and is made of wood with several rectangular divisions, there are also small circular windows next to the columns, it is painted white and bluish gray, the facade is beautiful and striking also stands out for its incredible baroque design.
Según la información suministrada por este amable señor, la Catedral de Caracas también se conoce como Catedral Metropolitana de santa Ana y su construcción data del siglo XVII, además fue construida donde anteriormente funcionaba una pequeña iglesia que fue destruida por un terremoto, cuenta con cinco naves y varias oficinas que se extienden a lo largo de la cuadra, está ubicada en el casco histórico de la ciudad cerca de la plaza Bolívar y la casa Natal del Libertador.
En la fachada se pueden observar varias columnas, cornisas y diversas ventanas en arco de medio punto, la puerta principal tiene forma de semi arco y es de madera con varias divisiones rectangulares, también se observan pequeñas ventanas circulares al lado de las columnas, está pintada de color blanco y gris azulado, la fachada es hermosa y llamativa además resalta por su increíble diseño barroco.
The main door is of two leaves and has as decoration several rows of golden circles, it is framed in two concrete semi-arches located between two columns that add depth and protection, in the superior part a cornice is observed; in the walls there are several plates where you can read thoughts of the Liberator, the date of visit of John Paul II, the height above sea level of the zone where the Cathedral is located, also a bronze mural.
The side doors have varied designs and the common element are the decorations in golden color, as can be seen in the rectangular door with wooden slats adorned with golden flowers and like the main entrance is framed by two columns, cornice at the top and protected by an iron grille in black, the next door is shaped like a semi-arch and is decorated with many golden circles that mark horizontal lines and two vertical, at the top of the wall has several small columns, and a triangular shaped cornice.
La puerta principal es de dos hojas y tiene como decoración varias filas de círculos dorados, se enmarca en dos semi arcos de concreto ubicados entre dos columnas que agregan profundidad y protección, en la parte superior se observa una cornisa; en las paredes hay varias placas donde se pueden leer pensamientos del Libertador , la fecha de visita de Juan Pablo II, la altura sobre el nivel del mar de la zona donde se ubica la Catedral, también un mural de bronce.
Las puertas laterales tienen variados diseños y el elemento en común son las decoraciones en color dorado, como se aprecia en la puerta rectangular con listones de madera adornada con flores doradas y al igual que la entrada principal está enmarcada en dos columnas, cornisa en la parte superior y protegida por una reja de hierro en color negro, la siguiente puerta tiene forma de semi arco y está decorada con muchos círculos dorados que marcan líneas horizontales y dos verticales, en la parte de arriba la pared tiene varias columnas pequeñas, y una cornisa con forma triangular.
When it comes to variety of door designs, the Cathedral has a wide range of models, my favorite is this dark brown rectangular door decorated with carved crosses, golden flowers and pictures of the same color with a kind of sun in the center, every detail of this door is very well elaborated and its incredible design stands out for the combination of colors.
The windows also have varied designs and shapes, there are round arched, rectangular and circular, also have glass, wooden frames and iron bars, definitely the Cathedral of Caracas is one of the most important architectural works of the country, according to the information of the gentleman the interior design is unique with beautiful arches, columns and colorful lamps, I would have liked to see it inside and observe in detail the columns and decorations, I hope it will be possible in the near future.
Cuando de variedad de diseños de puertas se trata la Catedral tiene una amplia gama de modelos, mi favorita es esta rectangular de color marrón oscuro decorada con tallados de cruces, flores doradas y cuadros del mismo color con una especie de sol en el centro, cada detalle de esta puerta está muy bien elaborado y su increíble diseño resalta por la combinación de colores.
Las ventanas tienen también variados diseños y formas, las hay con forma de arco de medio punto, rectangulares y circulares, poseen además vidrio, marcos de madera y rejas de hierro, definitivamente la Catedral de Caracas constituye una de las obras arquitectónicas más importante del país, de acuerdo a la información del señor el diseño interior es único con hermosos arcos, columnas y vistosas lámparas; me hubiese gustado verla por dentro y observar en detalle las columnas y decoraciones, espero pueda ser posible en futuro cercano.
