DIY: 2 piece swimsuit with triangle top [ENG_ESP]
Greetings dear community lover of threads and needles, happy and blessed start of the week together with your loved ones, I am happy to share with you a project that I made for the exhibition of the sewing course, a swimsuit for ladies of two pieces, the top is a triangular top that is held with two strips in the back, it is the first time I sew this kind of garments and it was a challenge, I had never worked with lycra fabric before, although it was a little difficult at the beginning to sew it I could finish it without problems, I combined this fabric with micro peach 180 to make the back part of the bikini and the straps of the top; the micro peach 180 fabric has the right elongation and textures that adapt very well to the lycra.
Saludos estimada comunidad amante de los hilos y la agujas, feliz y bendecido inicio de semana en unión de sus seres queridos, me siento feliz de compartir con ustedes un proyecto que elaboré para la exposición del curso de costura, un traje de baño para damas de dos piezas la parte de arriba es un top triangular que se sujeta con dos tiras en la parte trasera, es la primera vez que coso este tipo de prendas y fue todo un reto, nunca había trabajado con tela de licra aunque me costó un poco al principio coserla pude terminar sin contratiempos, esta tela la combiné con micro durazno 180 para hacer la parte trasera del bikini y las tiras del top; la tela micro durazno 180 tiene la elongación y texturas adecuadas que se adaptan muy bien a la licra.
I started by marking and cutting the pieces of the top and the bikini, for the top I marked two triangles of 27 * 38 cm (lining and main), the bikini pieces I cut in lycra the front and the back in micro peach 180 and lycra, also 2 strips of 85 cm for the top and 2 strips for the bikini (one in micro peach and the other in lycra). I sewed the straps right sides together and turned them over with the help of a pin or safety pin.
Inicié marcando y cortando las piezas del top y el bikini, para el top marqué dos triángulos de 27 * 38 cm (forro y principal), la piezas del bikini las corté en licra la parte delantera y la parte trasera microdurazno 180 y licra, además 2 tiras de 85 cm para el top y 2 tiras para el bikini (una en micro durazno y la otra en licra. Cosí la tiras enfrentando derecho con derecho y volteé con ayuda de un alfiler o imperdible.
To make the top I sewed the lining pieces right sides together, using a straight stitch, then pinned the strips to the top of the top, right sides together, pinned the lining and main fabric and sewed with a straight stitch leaving one end open to turn the piece over.
Para hacer el top cosí la piezas del forro enfrentando derecho con derecho, usando puntada recta, luego sujeté las tiras con alfileres en la parte superior del top, enfrenté derecho con derecho el forro y tela principal, aseguré con alfileres y cosí con puntada recta dejando abierto uno de los extremos para voltear la pieza.
Once the piece is turned over, I repeated with straight stitch and sewed a 1.5 cm wide hem or "bridge" at the ends to pass the strips.

To make the bikini, I sewed two rectangles of micro peach 180 on the front, then faced the front and back right sides together in main fabric and lining, then closed the sides.
Para hacer el bikini, cosí en la parte delantera dos rectángulos de micro durazno 180, luego enfrenté derecho con derecho la parte delantera y trasera en tela principal y forro, luego cerré los costados.
I faced back to back the lining and main fabric and sewed a straight seam along the contour to join the pieces and prevent them from moving or slipping when attaching the elastic, as I mentioned at the beginning it is the first time I sew lycra and it is a little slippery, with this seam I secure the fabrics and it is easier to sew the elastic.
Enfrenté revés con revés el forro y tela principal y pasé una costura recta por el contorno para unir las piezas y evitar que se muevan o resbalen al momento de pegar el elástico, como lo mencioné al principio es la primera vez que coso licra y es un poco resbaladiza, con esta costura aseguro las telas y me resulta más sencillo coser el elástico.
Finally I glued the elastic using zig zag stitch on the legs and waist, for this process only the elastic is stretched; since the fabric has enough elongation, this way the swimsuit is finished.
Finalmente pegué el elástico usando puntada de zig zag en las piernas y la cintura, para este proceso se estira solo el elástico; ya que la tela tiene suficiente elongación, así está terminado el traje de baño.
I am very happy to have finished this project without mishaps, and to have concluded the course satisfactorily; I was also able to learn the technique of sewing lycra, gently stretch the fabric while sewing (approximately 0.5 cm) to avoid breaking the seam when stretching the garment, also glue elastic to the swimsuit.
Me siento muy feliz de haber terminado este proyecto sin contratiempos, y haber concluido el curso satisfactoriamente; además pude aprender la técnica de coser licra, estirar suavemente la tela mientras coses (aproximadamente 0,5 cm) para evitar que se rompa la costura al estirar la prenda, también pegar elástico al traje de baño.

Te felicito. Hacer este tipo de costuras no debe ser tan fácil, además estas telas son elásticas y para manejarlas hay que tener esa experiencia. Saludos.
Saludos amiga, gracias por pasar y comentar, no es fácil coser licra y para ser la primera vez que lo hago me fue bien, gracias a los "trucos" que nos dio la instructora de curso, aún no me adapto a coser esta tela, requiere paciencia y cuidado, además una nueva experiencia en la costura.

Hola @belkyscabrera , el traje de baño te ha quedado muy hermoso. Verdaderamente admiro a las personas que trabajan la costura. Eso de hacer patrones, luego utilizar la máquina y no perderse entre las telas e hilos es toda una proeza para mi y admiro a quienes trabajan tan lindo con las telas, sobre todo esas telas elásticas que tantos dolores de cabeza dan.
Saludos @tibaire, gracias por tu lindo comentario, coser telas elásticas te cuento que es todo un reto, requiere de mucha paciencia y dedicación, gracias a Dios que existen los "trucos" para facilitar el trabajo y lograr hermosos resultados, lo cual no significa que sea super fácil, pero si ayudan mucho, creo que con la práctica se van dominando las técnicas para coser licra.
