DIY: Set of blue and fuchsia pencil cases to give as a gift at the end of the school year (Eng - Esp)
Hello, hello creative friends and @hivediy community, it's a pleasure to greet you and share a new creative project, this time it's a set of pencil cases, ideal to give to children who finish school year. These serve to store pencils and can also be used to carry makeup. It's a simple project to make in which you can combine the fabrics of your choice, taking advantage of some fabric scraps that were leftover from making the reversible bag 👜 for mom and attending the request of a friend, I made these practical pencil cases in blue and pink. They will be the gift that she will give to her students for completing the first stage of basic education and starting high school. Completing the order took me longer than I had estimated, because several meters of zipper were missing and the store where I usually buy was out. My friend visited several stores and was able to get it, so I was able to move forward and deliver the pencil cases in advance.
Hola, hola amigos creativos y comunidad @hivediy, es un placer saludarles y compartir un nuevo proyecto creativo, en esta ocasión se trata de un set de cartucheras, ideales para obsequiar a los chicos que culminan año escolar, estas sirven para guardar los lápices y también se pueden usar para llevar el maquillaje, es un proyecto sencillo de hacer en el cual se pueden combinar las telas de nuestra preferencia, aprovechando unos recortes de tela que sobraron de la elaboración del bolso 👜 reversible para mamá y atendiendo el pedido de una amiga elaboré estas prácticas cartucheras en color azul y rosa, serán el obsequio que ella dará a sus estudiantes por culminar la primera etapa de educación básica e iniciar en el liceo, completar el pedido me tomó más tiempo del que tenía estimado, porque faltaban varios metros de cierre y en la tienda donde regularmente compro no había, mi amiga visitó varias tiendas y pudo conseguirlo, así pude avanzar y entregar las cartucheras con anticipación.

The first step in making the pencil cases was to mark and cut the pieces. I folded the fabric in half, placed the pattern facing the wrong side of the fabric with the wrong side of the pattern, marked it using soap, and then cut it.

El primer paso para la elaboración de las cartucheras fue marcar y cortar las piezas, doblé la tela por la mitad, coloqué el molde enfrentando revés de la tela con revés del patrón, marqué usando jaboncillo y luego corté.
Once the pieces were cut, I glued the zipper. To do this, I placed the zipper and the fabric right sides together. I sewed with a straight stitch, then turned it over and re-edged both sides. To make sewing more comfortable, I removed the slider and sewed the zippers separately. After re-edging, I placed the slider back in. Re-edging is done to reinforce the seams and give strength to the zipper since it is constantly opened to take out or store pencils.
Cortadas las piezas pegué el cierre, para ello enfrenté por el derecho el cierre y la tela, cosí con puntada recta luego voltee y repisé en ambos lados, para que la costura sea más cómoda retiré el slider y cosí los cierres por separado, luego de repisar coloqué el slider, el repisado se hace para reforzar las costuras y darle firmeza al cierre, ya que se abre constantemente para sacar o guardar los lápices.
Once the closures were attached, I turned the pencil case inside out and placed the ribbon on one end. This will serve as a support when opening the pencil case and also as a hanger. Then, I placed the center of the closure opposite the center of the pencil case and secured it with pins.
Pegados los cierres volteé la cartuchera por el revés y en uno de los extremos coloqué la cinta, esta servirá de soporte al momento de abrir la cartuchera y también de colgadero, luego enfrente el centro del cierre con el centro de la cartuchera y sujeté con alfileres.
With a straight stitch I sewed the center of the pencil case, re-cutting the zipper part to reinforce it and the ribbon. I also cut several strips of seam cover.
Con puntada recta cosí centro de la cartuchera repisando en la parte del cierre para reforzar y en la cinta, también corté varias tiras de tapa costura.
To attach the seam cover, I first placed it facing the right side of the zipper, joined it with a straight stitch, then turned and folded the seam cover, and sewed again, trying to make the seam match the previous one.
Para pegar el tapa costura lo coloqué primero enfrentado con el derecho del cierre, unÍ con puntada recta, luego volteé y doble el tapa costura, cosí nuevamente tratando que la costura coincida con la anterior.
After gluing the seam cover to the center of the pencil case, I pinned the corners so that the top and bottom edges matched, sewed with a straight stitch, and glued the seam cover just as I did in the center. I removed the excess fabric, and that's how the pencil cases are finished, ready to give to the children who were promoted to high school.
Pegado el tapa costuras en la parte central de la cartuchera, sujeté con alfileres las esquinas de tal forma que coincidan los bordes superiores e inferiores, cosí con puntada recta y pegué el tapa costura igual como lo hice en la parte central, retiré el exceso de tela y así están terminadas las cartucheras para obsequiar a los niños que fueron promovidos al liceo.
This project is easy to make, and you have the option of adding a lining or simply a seam cover. This time, I didn't add a lining because the fabric is thick and stiff, allowing it to maintain its shape. I hope you find the tutorial helpful.
Este proyecto es sencillo de realizar y tienes la opción de colocarle forro o sencillamente el tapa costura, en esta oportunidad no le coloqué forro porque la tela es gruesa y rígida, lo cual permite mantener la forma de la cartuchera, espero que el tutorial les sea de utilidad.

Super acertada la combinación azul y rosa. Y un gran 10 de 10 para tu amiga por ayudarte a conseguir los cierres. A veces, la parte de los materiales es la más complicada, pero el resultado final, con las cartucheras entregadas con anticipación, demuestra que valió la pena el esfuerzo.

Hola @mily0202, me alegra que te guste el propyecto, creo que los niños se pondrán muy felices al recibir el obsequio que con mucho cariño les dará su maestra, los colores me gustan especialmente el azul, no es tan común, traté de sacarle el máximo provecho a los retazos y me gustó el resultado, se ven muy bien.
La falta de materiales en ocasiones atrasan el trabajo, como eran varias cartucheras, se acabó el cierre y fue un tanto difícil conseguirlo, mi amiga fue muy diligente y luego de revisar varias tiendas ¡Eureka! pude avanzar y terminar a tiempo.

Este diseño de cartuchera es un básico que deberíamos de saber todas, porque es muy fácil de hacer, y si alguien aún no sabe pues se llegó tu tutorial logrará hacerlo incluso se puede hacer a mano, sin necesidad de una máquina de coser, solo con mucha paciencia y delicadeza.
La idea de obsequiarlo a los jóvenes que pasan de año es muy ideal, aunque igual es para cualquier ocasión tipo souvenir. Te felicito excelente post.
