Morning stroll along the banks of the Manzanares River and an encounter with a friendly feathered friend (Eng - Esp)
Hello fellow nature lovers, it's a pleasure to greet you and share my visit to the banks of the Río Manzanares, as it flows through Ayacucho Park in the city of Cumaná. I've visited this area of the city many times and I must say I love it. The Manzanares River is an important waterway for the city and creates beautiful landscapes along its course. In the evening, you can enjoy the stunning sunsets and the sun reflected on the water; it's an incredible sight that I love to observe. This time, I went with my son to run errands in the city center, and we noticed that the river's flow was a bit higher than usual, perhaps due to the rainy season. The water covered one of the staircases located along the edge of the park, bordering this beautiful river. Its name comes from the indigenous word Cumaná, which means the union of sea and river, but with the arrival of the conquistadors, it was called Manzanares because of its similarity to the Manzanares River in Madrid, Spain.
The Manzanares River originates in the Turimiquire mountain and passes through several towns along its course. In Cumaná, it flows through various areas, including the city center as previously mentioned, such as Ayacucho Park and the area behind Guaiquerí Park. As it passes through this park, it has two small bridges or walkways, as well as the Gómez Rubio Bridge, and offers a beautiful landscape worth observing. In the section through Guaiquerí Park, several trees can be seen on both sides, as well as the Antonio Guzmán Blanco Bridge (at the intersection of Mariño and Bermúdez streets), which leads to the city's economic center.
Hola amigos amantes de la naturaleza es un placer saludarles, y compartir mi visita a la ribera del ribera del Río Manzanares, en su paso por el parque Ayacucho en la ciudad de Cumaná, en muchas oportunidades he visitado esta zona de la ciudad y debo decir que me gusta mucho, el río Manzanares es un importante curso de agua para la ciudad y en su trayecto le asigna hermosos paisajes; en horario vespertino puedes disfrutar los hermosos atardeceres y el sol reflejado en el agua, es una vista increíble que me encanta observar, en esta ocasión fui con mi hijo hacer diligencias en el centro de la ciudad y observamos que el caudal del río estaba un poco más alto de lo normal, tal vez por la temporada de lluvia, el agua cubría una de las escaleras que se ubican por el borde del parque en su límite con este hermoso río, su nombre proviene del vocablo indígena Cumaná, que significa unión de mar y río, pero con la llegada de los conquistadores se le llamó manzanares por su similitud con el Río Manzanares de Madrid, España.
El río Manzanares nace en la montaña del Turimiquire y en su recorrido pasa por varias poblaciones, en Cumaná atraviesa varios sectores, incluyendo el centro de la ciudad como lo mencioné anteriormente, entre ellos el parque Ayacucho, la zona posterior del parque Guaiquerí, a su paso por este parque tiene dos puentes o caminerías pequeñas, también el puente Gómez Rubio y un hermoso paisaje digno de observar, en el tramo del parque Guaquerí se observan varios árboles en ambos lados y también el puente Antonio Guzmán Blanco (en las calles Mariño y Bermúdez), que conducen al centro económico de la ciudad.
Upon seeing the river, we paused our errands and decided to take a walk. This focused on Ayacucho Park and its border with the river. We started our walk from Mariño Avenue to the skateboard park. The view is beautiful, and at this time of day, we came across some beautiful black birds, popularly known as "El Negro Luis" Molothrus bonariensis. Due to their size and the distance we were from them, they cannot be fully appreciated in the photographs, but to avoid disturbing them and interrupting their bath, I took the photo from afar, zooming in on some of them, where this beautiful specimen can be seen enjoying the coolness of the water.
I would have liked to take a close-up photo, but I decided to stay back so as not to interrupt its bath and moment of relaxation. This beautiful bird accompanied us for much of the tour, and we chose to stay as far away from it as possible so as not to disturb it.
Al ver el río hicimos una pausa en las diligencias y decidimos dar un paseo, este se enfocó en el parque Ayacucho y su límite con el río, iniciamos el recorrido desde la avenida Mariño hasta la pista de skateboard, la vista es hermosa y a esta hora del día nos encontramos con unos hermosos pájaros de color negro, conocido popularmente como "El Negro Luis" Molothrus bonariensis, por su tamaño y la distancia a la cual estábamos, no se pueden apreciar completamente en las fotografías pero para evitar molestarlos e interrumpir su baño tomé la foto desde lejos haciendo zoom en algunas de ellas, donde se observa a este hermoso ejemplar disfrutando la frescura del agua.
Me hubiese gustado tomarle una foto de cerca, pero decidí mantenerme al margen, para no interrumpir su baño y momento de relax, esta hermosa ave nos acompañó durante gran parte del recorrido y optamos por quedarnos quedarnos lo más lejos posible de él para no molestarlo.
During our walk, we also observed the riverbank, which is clean and inviting, perfect for relaxing under the trees. Last week we took another walk, and the water level had already dropped, which is noticeable from the moment you cross Mariño Street. In the afternoon, it's common to see people strolling through Ayacucho Park and along the banks of the Manzanares River, enjoying the beautiful scenery and the evening breeze. It's an area with abundant trees along the riverbank, and Ayacucho Park also has palm trees and large trees that provide shade.
At this time of year, the park that pays homage to the Cumaná-born hero Antonio José de Sucre (who earned the title of Grand Marshal at the Battle of Ayacucho, hence the park's name) is decorated with stars and rings of lights placed on the treetops and trunks. Compared to previous years, the decorations are different, featuring only beautiful lights adorning the trees, trunks, and branches. At night, the view is incredible. In addition to enjoying the park's spaces and the spectacular view of the river, this recreational area also has a children's playground where you can rent go-karts, find inflatables, and play a fun park. Very close to the children's area is the skateboard park, where skateboarding enthusiasts can practice their tricks and show off their skills. Visiting this park is a wonderful experience and a great opportunity to enjoy nature, the fresh and relaxing breeze, and the beautiful scenery offered by the Manzanares River as it flows through this part of the city.
En nuestro paseo observamos también la ribera del río que está limpia e invita a descansar debajo de los árboles, la semana pasada hicimos otro paseo y ya el nivel del agua bajó, lo cual se observa desde que cruzas por la calle Mariño, en horas de la tarde es común ver personas paseando por el parque Ayacucho y la orilla del río Manzanares, disfrutando hermoso paisaje y la brisa vespertina, es una zona con abundantes árboles en la orilla del río y el parque Ayacucho también tiene palmeras y grandes árboles que refrescan el lugar.
Para esta época del año el parque que rionde homenaje al prócer cumanés Antonio José de Sucre, (quien obtuvo el título de Gran Mariscal, en la Batalla de Ayacucho, de allí el nombre del parque), está decorado con estrellas, aros de luces, ubicados en la parte superior y tronco de los árboles, en comparación con años anteriores, la decoración es diferente, solo hermosas luces que adornan los árboles troncos y ramas, en la noche la vista es increíble, además de disfrutar de los espacios del parque y la espectacular vista del río, este espacio de esparcimiento, cuentan con una un área recreativa para los niños, allí alquilan carritos, hay inflables y parque de diversiones, muy cerca del área infantil, queda la pista de skateboard, donde los amantes de este deporte pueden realizar sus piruetas y demostrar las habilidades que ha desarrollado en este deporte; visitar este parque es una linda experiencia y una gran oportunidad para disfrutar el contacto con la naturaleza, la fresca y relajante brisa y el hermoso paisaje que ofrece el río Manzanares a su paso por este sector de la ciudad.
