Tour of the coast of the Rock visiting the kiosks and their new image (Eng - Esp)
Hello fellow travelers, it's a pleasure to greet you and wish you an excellent and blessed day with your loved ones. Today, June 24th, marks another year since the Battle of Carabobo, which secured Venezuela's definitive independence from Spanish rule. On this occasion, I'm sharing my visit to the El Peñón area to see the newly renovated beach kiosks. These kiosks, shaped like traditional thatched huts, have approximately eight concrete structures. They serve as shelters for beachgoers, provide protection from the sun and rain, offer places to relax, and even play dominoes. They also function as bus stops, as buses pass right by the beach. Last week, my son and I went to El Peñón and were pleasantly surprised to find that the kiosks had been repaired and painted, giving them a fresh new look.
They are light blue and navy blue, the roof is covered with tiles and inside they have benches and a concrete table. On the day of our visit there was a strong wind that moved the palm trees, waves and boats, even so we took advantage of it to walk along the shore of the beach especially in the area of the kiosks, near the sidewalk on the strip of sand, which was more slippery than other times and I almost fell, thank God, my son acted quickly and held me up preventing me from falling to the ground, ha, ha, I was going to take the bath in the sand instead of in the warm and refreshing waters of the Caribbean Sea as it passes through the eastern region of the country.
Hola amigos viajeros, es un placer saludarles deseado que tengan un excelente y bendecido día en unión de sus seres queridos, hoy 24 de junio se conmemora un año más de la Batalla de Carabobo, que marcó la independencia definitiva de Venezuela del dominio español; en esta ocasión les comparto mi visita al sector El Peñón, para conocer la nueva imagen de los kioscos ubicados en la orilla de la playa, los cuales tienen forma de bohío, esta área del peñón cuenta con aproximadamente 8 kioscos que son de concreto y sirven para colocar los morrales cuando visitas la playa, protegerse del sol, la lluvia, descansar, jugar dominó, también funciona como parada del bus ya que el transporte pasa por el frente de la playa, la semana pasada en compañía de mi hijo nos dirigimos hacia el Peñón y nos encontramos con la agradable y hermosa sorpresa que estos fueron reparados, pintados y ahora lucen una nueva imagen.
Son de color azul claro y marino, el techo está cubierto con tejas y en el interior tienen bancos y una mesa de concreto, el día de nuestra visita hacía un fuerte viento que movía las palmeras, olas y botes, aún así aprovechamos para caminar por la orilla de la playa especialmente por la zona de los kioscos, cerca de la acera en la franja de arena, la cual estaba más resbaladiza que en otras ocasiones y por poco me caigo, gracias a Dios, mi hijo accionó rápido y me aguantó evitando que cayera al suelo, je, je el baño me lo iba a dar en la arena en lugar de ser en las cálidas y refrescantes aguas del mar Caribe, a su paso por la región oriental del país.
El Peñón is a beautiful, lively coastal town known for the warmth of its inhabitants, who know how to make the most of every occasion to hold celebrations, parties, and gatherings on the beach. The beach becomes the perfect setting for festivities, and along its length are various kiosks and thatched-roof structures ideal for celebrations. Fishing is also an important part of the town's culture, and it's known for selling fresh fish in traditional thatched-roof structures, which are a kind of hut made from tree trunks and palm fronds. These are located very close to the concrete kiosks and in different areas of the beach, where not only fish is sold, but also dishes prepared with seafood, including the famous seafood stew (asopado de mariscos) and other dishes like fried fish with salad, which are part of the typical cuisine of the region.
During our walk along the beach, we came across one of the thatched huts where they sell fresh fish. Because of the lateness of the day, there were only a few left, including sardines, small fish, and one that caught my attention because of its size: the jack mackerel. It was the first time I'd seen such a large specimen, and according to the woman selling them, they usually reach over a meter in length, and this was one of the smallest they'd had for sale. I asked permission to photograph it and observe its colors in detail. Then we came across a wooden sign that read: "No littering." There was another one that said "Keep the beach clean." I've also seen these messages on San Luis beach, and they're a great initiative to encourage people to keep the beaches clean and put their trash in the bins placed along the shore. We also saw many birds flying near the kiosks, and I took the opportunity to take some pictures. In them, you can see these traveling friends heading towards the beach to fish and get their food. I tried to take pictures while they were fishing, but it was a Mission impossible, by the time we focused on them it was because they had already caught fish, it was very nice to capture several images of these birds flying close to us.
El Peñón, es un hermoso pueblo costero, muy alegre que destaca por la calidez de sus habitantes, los cuales saben aprovechar al máximo cada ocasión para realizar celebraciones, fiestas y encuentros en la playa, esta se convierte en el escenario perfecto cuando de fiestas se trata, además a lo largo de la playa se ubican diferentes kioskos y enramadas ideales para las festividades, la pesca también forma parte importante de este pueblo y es conocido por distribuir pescado fresco en las tradicionales enramadas, que son una especie de choza, hechas con tronco de árboles y palmeras, están ubicadas muy cerca de los kioscos de concreto y en diferentes áreas de la playa, donde no solo se vende pescado también comidas preparadas con productos del mar, entre ellas el famoso asopado de mariscos y otros platillos como pescado frito con ensalada, que forma parte de la gastronomía típica en la región.
Durante nuestro recorrido por la playa, llegamos a una de las enramadas donde venden pescado fresco, por lo avanzado del día, solo quedaban pocos, entre ellos sardina, cachorreta y uno que llamó mi atención por su tamaño, el Jurel, es la primera vez que veo un ejemplar tan grande y según información de la chica, suelen alcanzar más de un metro y este es uno de los más pequeños que han tenido a la venta, le pedí permiso para fotografiarlo y observar en detalle sus colores, luego nos conseguimos con un cartel hecho de madera donde se lee la frase: "No tirar basura", hay otro que dice "mantén la playa limpia", estos mensajes también los he visto en la playa San Luis y son una gran iniciativa para que la población mantenga las playas limpias y coloquen la basura en las cestas que están dispuestas a lo largo de la playa, también observamos muchas aves volando cerca de los kioscos y aproveché para tomar algunas fotografías, en las cuales se pueden apreciar estas amigas viajeras, dirigiéndose hacia la playa con el objetivo de pescar y obtener su alimento, intenté tomar fotografías cuando estaban pescando pero fue una misión imposible, al momento de enfocarlas era porque ya habían pescado, fue muy lindo capturar varias imágenes de estas aves volando cerca de nosotros.
After walking along the beach and seeing the kiosks, we sat down at one of them. It has several cylindrical columns and a low wall that's about 60 cm high. The door faces the beach, and in the center is a hexagonal table. From the center, a column rises to the ceiling. Concrete benches surround it, and the columns are visible. In the next photograph, you can see the central column from the floor, through the table, and up to the ceiling. Then you can see the side columns and the front ones, which, as I mentioned, face the beach. The kiosks are popular during holidays and weekends. With their new look and dark blue paint, they look very nice and contrast beautifully with the sea. The tiled roof gives them a classic style that complements the marine environment.
Very close to them are several palm trees and we have a partial view of La Marina street located in front of the beach. I liked the new look of the kiosks and their beautiful color. While we waited for the transport we stayed for a while at the kiosks, observing the beach, enjoying the breeze and trying to photograph the birds fishing. After half an hour we took the transport back home. It was a nice trip, which allowed us to see the new look of the kiosks and enjoy the beautiful seascape.
Luego de recorrer la orilla de la playa y ver los kioscos nos sentamos en uno de ellos, tienen varias columnas cilíndricas y una pared pequeña que cubre aproximadamente 60 cm, la puerta se ubica hacia la playa y en el centro hay una mesa con forma hexagonal, desde el centro se desprende una columna hacia el techo, alrededor de ella están los bancos de concreto y se observan las columnas, en la siguiente fotografía vemos la columna central desde el piso, atraviesa la mesa y llega hasta el techo, luego las columnas laterales y las frontales que como lo mencioné quedan hacia la playa; los kioscos son concurridos en las temporadas de asueto y fines de semana, con la nueva imagen que tienen ahora y su pintura de color azul oscuro, se ven muy bonitos y contrastan con el mar, el techo de teja le da un estilo clásico y acorde con el ambiente marino.
Muy cerca de ellos hay varias palmeras y tenemos una vista parcial de la calle la Marina, ubicada al frente de la playa, me gustó el nuevo rostro de los kioscos y su hermoso color, mientras esperábamos el transporte nos quedamos un rato en los kioscos, observando la playa, disfrutando la brisa e intentando fotografiar las aves pescando, luego de media hora tomamos el transporte de vuelta a casa, fue un lindo recorrido, que nos permitió ver el nuevo aspecto de los kioscos y disfrutar el hermoso paisaje marino.
